Just wondering if anyone on here has had much experience of the dark web/deep web at all, in the past or still use it for whatever reason? I personally have not used it much but for some reason it fascinates me. Is it all just dodgy stuff or is it mostly boring papers and uninteresting things no one really cares about?

Interested in peoples opinions and experiences on it :)

It's a dark place, full of the worlds illuminati and barons trading guns, drugs and stolen aircraft from Malaysia I am told by a 19 year old who knows how to access it from his bedroom. :)

It's where the demnons live, steer clear and leave well alone.

Also - you are now being tracked by the CI5 for mentioning the Dark Web

Used to be involved in developing a http system running "underneath" a popular IRC network masquerading data as IRC packets at first it was kind of "cool" and used a bit for casual piracy but later was being taken over for much more dodgy stuff so I distanced myself.

:D

As I suspected then. When I tried to use it ,Soundboys description was very apt. Smoke and mirrors basically and I was just taken in circles for half an hour.

Definitely the place to go if you want to pop up on the radar of GCHQ or the NSA.

I doubt they care.

“When we are moving resources into that it does mean that we can’t keep policing every single issue as we have done in the past. If people are using cannabis discreetly in their own homes, in private, I would not expect the chief to make that a priority.”

He said the force would always target organised criminals producing large quantities of drugs. But, he added: “If you are talking about people growing a couple of cannabis plants at home on the window sill, I would not expect Derbyshire police to prioritise that.
lol that quote is amazing
Maybe one day the shops won't need to exist

Imagine the internet in the early 90s.

That's the dark web.

geocities and pages full of gifs? dark age of the internet indeed.

thats about spies submitting bug reports for vulnerabilities in tor not people taking it down or going after tor uses.

afaik americas government funds a large part of tor development

I doubt they even care about most the people selling on tor nevermind people buying stuff.

there's so few busts even from silkroad which america had control over for a period of time

They did. It came out of the NRL. It's OSS now though and is mostly maintained by hackers / privacy advocates and others under the non-profit Tor Project.
