Dash Update Details Confirmed...

Yes, in the context that it encourages developers to release unfinished and buggy products, which is a pretty common trend right now. You're the moron here if you can't see that (especially if you use the word 'noob'). The amount of games that come out only to get patches on the first week of release is not funny. Stalker for example, was a mess until the 10001 patch which came out a week later. And precious Gears of War got a day 1 patch, because the multiplayer aspect of the game wasn't playtested properly. We're not supposed to get that with console games. If you say we are, then all the more folly for thinking that *gasp* there are people who don't have internet connections to their 360s and Playstations.

Complete and clean packages at release should be the norm, but it's not - and people of your mentality are why developers are rubbing their hands in glee at early releases for maximum profit at the disadvantage of the gamers themselves. No Quality Assurance? Don't care, lovely Psycho Sonny can happily wait for a patch.

you cannot playtest for everything and this is a console update thread not specific games the actual console itself, steam isnt a game its just a tool you use to play games, consoles should be updated with new patches and updates to improve their OS all the time, games on the other hand shouldnt need patches but without them they would be majorly flawed, and werent gears of war trying to give away new maps for free etc? they are trying to run a games company you know and at the end of the day i dont see them as doing anything wrong, but come on the xbox only gets 1 real update a year thats poor by anyones standards

I really like the look of this new update, though I dont see myself buying the keyboard anytime soon, read about my thoughts in my blog :)

The 360 gets 2 updates a year
1 in spring
1 in Autumn

but 1 of them is mainly a behind the scenes update which the user never see's the benefit of and the other is mainly an on stage one where the user sees all the benefits, so really thats just like splitting 1 proper update into 2 just to space them out, all in all its just really 1 update a year thats the way i see it

meh !!!! its a gadget, gotta get me one of those

i was thinking the same then thought what if i was talking to someone through the headset and wanted to message someone else using the keyboard, it aint possible so ill just use my pc keyboard on my 360 - i did pay £50 for my g15 so i might as well get as much use out of it as possible

But didnt the fall update give us 1080p support and wireless headset support and other things? (of which I cant remember :p) and the upcoming spring update is giving us a few new features namely the msn intergration, improving the download system etc. So I really cannot see how we see the benefits from one but not the other.

I would rather have 2 updates a year rather then one. For example if they updated once per year and they added a ton of features that nobody wanted, you would have to wait another year to see the 'benefits' as you put it. Aslong as they keep giving me features that I will use and that will be useful to me I will be happy :)

But was was the update last week then? that was neither lol

personally i think 2 updates a year is too few and far between, every 3 months wouldn't actually be bad.

Weekly updates are a pain, the PS3 when it came out in the states had weekly updates for about 4 or 5 weeks.
It was good in that, you got new features/fixes regularly, but also a pain to have to d/l them every week with the servers being hammered.

The problem with twice a year is some features they could have been sat on for 4 or 5 months and we have to wait for them. But at the same time, when Live gets an update it tends to be down for a day (or 3 going by the last update iirc) and many people would moan about the time they have lost from live.

You do realise this is a discussion forum? Why not post your thoughts here, for people to discuss rather than spamming to get traffic to your blog?

On topic, looks like a few things worth having, anyone know if MS are planning to "fix" peoples 360s who have flashed the DVD firmware?

Seems to be the new 'in thing' these days :(

Keyboard looks kind of clunky to me. I'm sure I wrap my fingers around the controller slightly which doesn't look possible with the add on. Might be wrong, would have to try it I think.

I was really excited about the msn idea at first but the more I think about it the less I like the idea. If I'm playing a game do I really want to be interrupted by people having a half conversation stretched out to the pace of one sentence every 5 minutes? (general msn whinge there) Its bad enough having the gf come in to tell me about some kid that infact isn't the builders son afterall in Corrie. Like I give a monkeys, I'm busy shootin up some mofo's in Saints Row

Do like the achievement idea though and some of the other touches. As others have said though- 1400x900 please MS.

1400 * 900 is not a proper HD resolution neither is it a normal tv resolution, it is also higher than 360's native resolution of 1280 * 720, the hardware inside may not allow it to do this resolution properly or microsoft dont see the demand since the majority of the people who use this res use it on a pc monitor and that they only make up about 0.5% of the total number of people using an xbox 360

Dont know about that but I dont think something is far off, it can't be. Have a look yourself 2 weeks before a game is released on a site that collects gamertag scores. There is a nice little data base of everyone playing weeks before release in the uk. Literally giving themselves upto MS. A list of about 200 constant culprits. Always makes me laugh that about 25 of them are posters on here :D The achievement system is a master stroke for MS to gather all this info on gamers without them batting an eyelid.

I read on another gaming forum that a warning was placed on Major Nelson or a hint was given that they are planning something for the people who have used game saves to unlock full achievements in seconds.
