Dashboard Update Today?

It's nothing to do with multithreading, multitasking yes...

The dashboard operates independantly, thats where the problem lies, that and the game not waiting till the sign in process if complete.

Erm why not? Silver doesn't cost anything.

really? i haven't really looked into it as i thought you had to pay monthly subscription, i wouldn't play on it that often so would never really get my moneys worth.

OK, my mistake - should have been clearer. On a single CPU system this problem is far less likely to happen since Live would sign in, then the game would start up (most likely, you could multitask with a single CPU but I still doubt it would be a problem). Problem with 3 cores is that the game can pretty much run as fast as it likes, without having to 'wait' for the dashboard / Live. Just a sync issue, and sync issues occur most of the time when multithreading. Level's ready, textures aren't, oh dear we're displaying a level without textures (extreme example).

*cough* PGR3 *cough*

Thats not true, the textures ARE ready, the normal maps aren't. It places a holding map whilst the normal map is rendered (Geometry displayed in a file that renders height within an image file).

The updates available for those who are not on live also, all you have to do is download it, and burn it to a disc, then bung it in your 360, and it will do the rest, what i need to do. :)

You need to hook your Xbox up to your network :)

A WAP is cheaper than the wireless adapter too, if you're on wireless :)

I doubt it'll happen, but I wish they'd add more video options to the Media Functions. Would love to stream a DivX to it (yes I know it is possible to encode on the fly, but it's a pig to setup...).

Why would you resist something that is:
a) awesome?
b) free?

Yeha i didn't know you could get a basic free service.

Just ordered a router so i can connect it to my broadband, will sign upfor the silver service.

I was reading on another forum theres a list of things people dont like about it and one of the top ones is the video thing. For most people the video section is pointless, why show us something that not very 1 can use. Not many people have Media center pcs. On this forum i guess a lot do but the majority dont me included its a pain. Why not make it available to any 1 who has an XP based PC as that makes so much more sense!!

just found this as well so the browser isnt out of the question
“I was messing around with the Media Extender interface on the X360, and noticed that the "More Programs" linked to a couple of apps installed on my PC as part of the Media Center Package, including MS Instant Messenger and some other stuff. All of these run when you access them from the 360 Media Extender client. The 360 essentially seems to act as a dumb terminal, interfacing with the application running on the PC.

Here's where things really get interesting: It's apparently very easy to integrate Windows applications into the MCE "More Programs" tab. All you have to do is build a link in a format specified by Microsoft and do some minor optimization, and the app will run in MCE. Here is how Microsoft describes the process of building games for MCE: msdn.microsoft.com.

So I downloaded a couple of apps and installed them on MCE, switched over to the 360, and lo and behold, most of them run perfectly. I was able to run apps with modified browsers to pull down news stories, stock quotes, sports scores etc., as well as several Internet Radio clients."
