Dashcams!

@Howard

I would think plenty of hardworking and honest people would be uncomfortable being monitored or recorded at their place of work.

Obviously what has happened to Janesy is crap but I can see why dashcams get unplugged.

Fine, but at least plug it back in when work is finished. I have a dashcam for a reason and it's not to catch out 'honest, hardworking people'. It should be obvious to them why they exist.

Looking at dashcams but I know nothing about them would you say above is a good deal?

I found the below too which does include a 32gb sd card

I've got the 312 and it's great.

Your 2nd link just look naf tbh

This is why I have a tamper sticker on my dash cams power. If anyone unplugs it I would know.

It's wired into the fuse box so only one way to unplug it.

It also can record up to 30 mins

Looking for a bit of advice. I bought a Nextbase 312GW about a year ago. It's fine .... except the suction mount falls off every few months. Anyone have any useful tips to stop this happening?

Just an update. This evening I had a call from the General Manager of the dealership who was hugely embarrassed of their behaviour and extremely apologetic. He told me one of them has been 'removed' already and they're waiting for the other one to come back in because he's off sick (probably given a heads up by his mate and thought better of going back) and he'll be dealt with. He'll invite me in to discuss the matter once they've concluded all the investigation into what happened, why and what can be done to prevent it along with any compensation (he already offered to have someone check the car over and the next service is free to start off). It was hard to get their attention at first and I can't fault their response once they've actually realised what's happened.

I was just wondering what was going on. A good start by the sounds of it, hopefully the other one will be shown the door too.

Sounds positive but hopefully they don't think 1 free service is enough, also checking the car not really sure they would see anything now its just what has had its life span shortened by the reckless driving of there employees.

indeed, under gdpr is there any new obligation to say private conversations maybe recorded, and then restrictions on how you manage any material.

edit: also interesting those that choose to have speed displayed on the video or not, if you were involved in an incident could be a help ?

Opted for the aukey dual dashcam least I'm covered both ends that way! Of course I hope nothing happens, I'm a new driver so rather have evidence on my side if something does

Private individuals do not need to comply with GDPR.
