Dashcams!

I doubt it will either. The benefit of a cap is that it will last much longer life than a battery. Cars get very hot in the summer and this will have an impact on a Li-Ion battery over a period of time.

Electrolytic caps can withstand this a lot better. Some go to 85 degrees Celsius and more commonly now a days 105 degrees Celcius.

My 0803 has a battery in it, but I would imagine when it gives up, it'd be a fairly easy job for someone to replace who has a bit of electronics experience.

Thanks - I figured as much but I'd rather it have the battery so it can record after being turned off, and so the motion detection works when parked in car parks etc.

If the 0803 is anything like the Mobius, it's a 30 second job to replace the battery, I've already opened mine to fit a lens extension so I can stealth install it in the E46.

That's weird, I didn't come here for this but discovered today that my 12v USB charger is causing massive interference in both our van and my car. Only realised when I plugged my phone in in the van and the radio cut out as soon as I did.

I bought this one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M6Q83B4 - which is great as it provides enough power and it's small/near flush. But obviously it's terrible for RFI.

Can anyone recommend any dual, compact ones that don't emit RFI from experience?

Sodding MicroSD cards! Just had a weekend away in Stoke, some 600 ish miles... Only realised I'd forgotten to get the card from my card reader as I joined the M3 :o

Shame as I encountered a couple of tiffs between other drivers from one guy cutting another guy up at a major motorway junction, almost causing an accident, to an angry man in a C class chasing down a Fiesta driver who pulled out in front of him in Stoke

Picked up a 32GB microSDXC U1 card for $15 tonight. Could have got the faster 64GB U3 one for $25 but decided to see if I actually use it.

Currently I have a Kodak SP1 Pixpro, and not a dashcam :( Really need to get a dashcam asap... soon as I repair the car :(

When I was driving home from work, I car was behind me, and I noticed that he was getting utterly close to me when I was braking, and once he did a hand gesture of some sort, as to say "get on with it"
anyway, so as I braked to slow down because of the car in front was slowing down) , I kept thinking to myself "he's going to ram me in a minute" as he was too close to me.

then he did this :

so impatient !

What do you guys think?

as I got past these parked cars, it was a roundabout, and I turned right and I could just see him in the distance (still a 30) so I doubt he was doing the speed limit!

so tempted to report him for dangerous driving

Agreed, a moron, but there is no point reporting it for three reasons.

A) You didn't have your indicator on to show you were waiting so he may have thought you were parking.
B) Its nowhere near dangerous driving.
C) He's just 1 of the millions of utter morons on the road and the best thing it do is take a breath, hope he steps on an upside down plug in the middle of the night, and move on.

Meh, pillocks everywhere, I had a couple today. Not worth the effort reporting them unless its utterly dangerous / life threatening type stuff.

First one this morning was someone in a Corsa driving towards amber temporary traffic lights.
No attempt to stop at all (she was going more than slow enough to)
Then they went red and she hit the anchors but had already past the "stop here" sign, so that left her parked in the middle of the single track road and would have blocked any on coming traffic (if there was anyway).
Due to the fact there was nothing on the other side of the roadworks, the lights pretty much changed straight back to green, but by this time she was engaged in a reversing manoeuvre to try and get back behind the stop sign.
So she didn't notice them amber in the beginning and didn't notice them going green afterwards either.. HOPELESS!
The other was a Tigra in the middle lane of the Motorway as I got onto it this morning going to work, I waited til she passed me before pulling out, started to speed up, had to match her speed for a while before the third lane was free but as I was engrossed in looking in the mirror trying to judge the pull out into the third lane... She put the anchors on.. For what I don't know as there was nothing in front of her, so just as I look forward, I see I'm gaining on her far too fast and have to sweep out into the outside lane a bit quicker than I'd have liked..
Why can't some people stick to one ****ing speed..
Later on in a 50 zone, she cruises past my door in the second lane and then slows to match my speed, so when I catch up with a HGV and want to overtake, she's blocking me in, again, for no reason whatso ever. FACEPALM.jpg

I can't remember the last time I've seen driving worth reporting, but was in my old car with no camera a few days ago and saw some action.

I was at a red light coming from a direction where the green is notoriously short, so only a few cars get through at a time.

The car in front had 3 people in it and the que was fairly long. Some young lad jumped out of the back seat and ran off. I thought maybe he was being dropped off.

We go through a light cycle, move forward a few car spaces. Then the lad runs back across the traffic with a load of red bulls in his hand and gets in. He'd run into the shop on the other side of the road to buy them.

Fair enough, but then the second green light cycle comes around. Only about 3 cars make it though before it goes red, the car in front of these people errs on the side of caution and stops at the red instead of gunning it. The car behind it is too impatient for that though, even though the light was red now and the cross traffic light was now green they pulled into the incoming traffic lane and gunned it through the red light. Cue lots of slammed brakes and horn honking from the cars already in the intersection, couldn't believe my eyes.

I'd definitely have sent the police that footage.

Best to have people like that in front anyway.

I haven't pulled the footage
but,

driving along in a 40, then becomes a 60, road on the left (on the 60) with a car waiting to pull out and turn right, car on its left, decides to pull out straight in front of me, so I slammed on the anchors and used my horn, to say "I'm here" and he gives me the finger and sped of up to 60 and beyond, was clearly doing at least 70 along this road and then it goes down to a 40 for an S bend then up to a 50, and he's still going beyond the speed limit!!!
and its in a Vahaul people carrier thing, looked quite old

shame I cant do nothing about it
