Dashcams!

Another 'leave in the car' bod here. I am, generally, more concerned that the whole car will get nicked, than the camera - it is mounted high behind the rear-view mirror, and partially obscure by the other ton of factory cameras that control the lights, sign recognition yada yada

Permanently in mine but then the only place it goes with any regularity is from home to the work car park..
It does however slide easily out of it's windscreen mount so if I do happen to be less of a hermit, then it is a very simple procedure to put it in the glovebox out of sight.

Always in and always recording, I don't do anything silly to warrant needing to remove certain clips so it's pretty much just forgotten about. One of the reasons I went for the 0806 is because it looks like a cheap Chinese device, not something desirable to a theif, just like my car :D

Anyone got the mini 0806 3rd gen? What is the build quality like?

Ive read problems about the first batches of 0806. Did they sort these out on the 3rd gen?

Currently deciding between 0805 or 0806 3rd gen for my first dashcam

Really like the idea of the CPL filter of the 0806 but the reliability (according to reviews) of 0805 is really nice.

I got one for under £60 which includes the CPL filter. It is a 3rd gen one. Just setting it up so far and it seems good. Once it is properly installed (not done the wiring yet) I'll let you know.

Not sure how to check revision, nothing printed on it or the box to state as such, but the seller did state it was a v3 so just went with it!

Mine has had zero issues, even with the 128GB card full, it overwrites old videos no problem and carries on working just fine.

I'm trying to check out different resolutions/fps to see what works best as light levels fall with CPL installed, as there is some blur when freezing a frame so number plates aren't quite visible outside of dead centre as cars move - 1080P 45fps seems alright so far. 2560x1080 is the best quality though, especially with the custom bitrate firmware.

Where did you find the 0806 for that price? I'd be tempted to get another for that price

To be honest the chat about camera quality etc is a bit pointless. Most do the job, which effectively is to see a car and pick up a numberplate. Neither require that much detail.

I've got two 0805s, front and back, no GPS for speed - again, for anything I'd need to claim for I don't know how that would help - and picture quality is fine.

At under £80 for two it's a no brainer for even a slight bump.

I bought a Veho Muvi for my old car, which was fine it did the job.

Now I have a new car and I'm looking for a better dashcam. Does anyone know of one that covers front and rear windows (though my rear window is tinted!) that doesn't run off the USB? I don't want wires hanging everywhere and I can't wire it in.

no accidents, but 3 or 4 very close ones this morning ! and I wasn't even going to work at 6:30 this morning

cyclist with no lights on etc, jumped off the payment in front of me, just missed his back wheel

then I had a van went across the roundabout in front of me, instead of turning left as he was in the left lane (this lane veers off to the left), and went right/straight on instead

I was turning right at a roundabout when car decided not to look right and I was already there (small roundabout with a little bump in the road) and he almost collided with me, again if i had not braked "smash"

few cars without lights on too

So bad this morning

and its all caught on camera!
