Dashcams!

Not if the car is used every other day or so unless the battery is on the way out already. In that case the camera is not to blame and best to replace the battery before it gives up anyway.

You can always get a pass through USB powerbank that charges itself when the ignition is on and keeps the camera on when the ignition is off. However it is an added complication.

I don't use mine 24/7 so probably why I haven't had any issues. I use my car once a week at the most, so it seems hardly worth wiring it up for 24/7 use.

Sorry you've had issues. But I agree I guess the FW could be updated better. But it wasn't expensive and for the money seems pretty good to me. That said I'm sure there are others which are equally as good if not better. :)

I used the DrivePro 200 for the first time yesterday.

I quite like the stability of the video, I find it a bitless shaky than the 0806.

But, the video quality is worse. It's OK, but it's noticeably not as good.

The audio is fine.

The shape of the unit is a bit more intrusive than the 0806... as it hangs a bit more below the rear view mirror... but it's easier to operate and see that it's happily recording.

Ooops - thought I'd posted in this thread but can't seem to find it!

Anyhoo - Sold me Volvo S60 and the new buyer was eager to get the Thinkware F750 with it and paid me extra as it was already all hardwired in :)

It was a great dashcam - I really liked the parking surveillance mode feature but never used the other gimmicks like Lane departure detection and collision warning etc. Most of all I love the fact it was discrete and just worked without any intervention once configured. WIFI connectivity to my phone was great too - could change all settings, and download vids if required. Great camera but expensive.

I'm after something similar for my new VW CC i just got. Problem is its got a heated front screen - won't this interfere with the GPS functionality on dashcams?

Any recommendations? - My last F750 cost me in the region of £300 including fitting and the hard wiring kit - anything similar without the gimmicks for less?

Not interested in units with displays - prefer them to be discrete and requiring no user intervention. What about the Road Angel unit? - anyone got one of them? ta

My 0806 has started to sometimes record interference in the audio stream, it's a bit weird, it's clean sometimes, other times you can hear it. This video captured today shows it, also a nonce BMW driver as an added bonus :p

Anyone else noticed the noise on their 0806?

I have a Nextbase 202, cheap and cheerful! bought 4 of them on black Friday for cheap, all 4 had to be returned with the same battery fault (wouldn't hold a charge) but the replacements work ok.

I've noticed though, my camera stops recording shortly after stopping the car, at traffic etc, and starts again when I get going. I'd like it to continue recording, does anyone know what setting would enable this? I'll download the menu tonight if not but wondered if someone had the same camera?

Stop start tech on your car?

Any reason not to go for a Mini 0826 or is the 0806/0805 more tried and tested?

What's the deal with Amacam? Looked for a 0805 and a cheap £39.99 amacam came up. Avoid?

I was looking at them and would have loved the discreet 806 but seemed to be old tech and people on the forums have said the latest versions of them are marred by lockups etc. I went for the D101 and its currently working very very well. Unfortunately not as discreet but its hidden behind the mirror with the cable tucked in so works fine.

I encountered this rather unpleasant driver who was apparently in a bit of a rush to get out of his parking space earlier.

Noticed him flipping me off in my rear view mirror as I was parallel parking. Then he pulled up beside my car and had a go at me before driving off

Was really quite bizarre.

This is the rear view camera.

I noticed another chap behind me picking his nose for a solid 10 minutes on the M1 a couple of weeks ago, he wasn't following close enough for good footage though :D

typical moody old man, no signal or anything probably expected you to sense that he wanted to get out
