Dashcams!

I ordered the 200 to replace my 0806 :)

From the videos I saw... the audio quality doesn't seem vastly different from similar offerings. You can't expect awesome audio from a cheap device like this, I don't think.

Interesting, what's made you choose that over the 0806 as I was just about to order one of them?

The audio on the 0806 is very good IMO, better than the 0605 and others I've seen on youtube. Certainly picks up my engine and exhaust note nicely :p It's also stereo, which is a bonus.

Just curious, why do people want to record audio with their dashcams? I'm not quite sure what benefit it can give unless someone's shouting at you with your windows open. Granted it can capture things like skid noises and a car attempting to stop but when you're capturing a potential incident on video I don't really see what the audio is going to add when you're using a dashcam for your own protection.

I disabled the audio recording on mine. I figured it'd allow a little more space on the SD card for video, but in reality I realise the difference is pretty minimal.

I would, if I could be bothered to turn it back on but since I care so little I can't really be bothered to go back into the options to re-enable it. I just leave the cam alone and it manages itself.

Silly question time.

I have a new car on order, (Ford Kuga 2.0 Titanium X and delivery is expected end of March beginning of April), soin my early stages of planning I am looking at dashcams.

I was looking at the NextBase Duo so covered front and back but my new car is coming with black/tinted windows at the rear so was wondering how effective the rear facing camera would be through quite a dark tint.

Anyone got any advice or should I forget the Duo and get a front facing only camera.

Cheers.
Matt

The dash cam could also capture a verbal altercation with someone suffering from road rage.

My 0803 is giving up.

Just froze when I was transferring files to my PC and now I have to wait for the battery to empty before I can use it again.
Other symptoms include lots of sub-60 second clips for no reason and recording gaps, strange audio interference when it isn't moving etc.

Any suggestions for £100 budget? :)

A 0805 or 0806 for £45 ish

My advise is don't bother with the mini0806.

I took a punt and I regret it. Bought a street guardian instead now.
0806 dual cards don't work properly and eventually they die.

If your going to bother, buy something decent.
You get what you pay for.

I haven't had any issues with my 806?

The quality seems good and the video quality is also good. What problems have you had?

I ask because I'm thinking of getting a second as a rear camera.

Which model though? They seem to vary considerably.

What will you do? Will you hide the wires through the car and have a dual converter cig plug? Or do you wire it into the fuse box?

What will Will do?

Bought it to use the parking mode, which was removed as a feature so I ran it 24/7 instead. Kept freezing after 6 days requiring a restart and finally died a month later. It would have been an excellent camera if it was built properly and the firmware worked as it should.

If your not going to run it 24/7 then you might get away with it, but I intend to run it 24/7 and the SGZC12RC-V2-B actually has a parking mode that works properly.

Mine was a 3rd gen supposedly. IQ was good though at the 2304px option.

If the SG works properly I'll buy another one for rear view too.
