Dashcams!

typical moody old man, no signal or anything probably expected you to sense that he wanted to get out

Yeah, but there was no where for him to go, he had to let me in first. He closed the door to his car just a few seconds before I pulled in front. I'd have blocked his exit if I'd stayed in the main lane. Definite moody old man :D

Which dashcam do you have?

Koonlung K1S

Front and rear vid is good, very discrete, audio recording is pretty bad though. I uploaded a load of pics earlier in the thread.

lol, you called that perfectly :D

My advise is don't bother with the mini0806.

I took a punt and I regret it. Bought a street guardian instead now.
0806 dual cards don't work properly and eventually they die.

If your going to bother, buy something decent.
You get what you pay for.

I've had a mini 0801 but it's been a bit unreliable and finally packed up. Daft as owt I've looked at the 0806 but there seems to be far too many owners with issues. So though more money, the Street Guardian looks good and discreet (a must). All ok with it?

Seems to be working well so far :)

Ah iv found the thread, recommendations on a cam under 70 pounds please? Will be hardwired into switched live so not an issue on battery life etc. Just has to work when ign is on, record fine to an sd. Be alright night vision wise and discrete as possible

I'm just thinking of getting a dash cam at some point too. The A118C B40 looks like a pretty good camera for £50 unless someone can recommend something better. Looks to be very discrete, capacitor, optional gps and not completely useless at night. Not sure between that or the mobius atm.

Seems to be a lot of posts in this thread about problems with the 080x cameras so I think I'll stay away from those.

Bit eager this Juke driver was to merge in without checking mirrors. Figured there's no need to get all huffy about it and just let him/her in anyway.

Didn't even say thanks though :/

That seems really good! Very impressed by the dynamic range! Can be had for £65 on the bay.

Buying a dash cam seems like a lucky dip at the moment. Just never know which ones are the ones to go for. I want something that's very discreet and i can leave it in the car hardwired...

So, anyone got a run down of decent cams in the £50 range?

Something that has a decent res on the videos and records audio somewhat. Not fussed about it being hooked up in the car...Either battery or so i hook up to cigarette lighter.

This video captured today shows it, also a nonce BMW driver as an added bonus :p

Why do all 320d drivers love getting in wrong lanes at lights :confused:I see this on a weekly basis on my commute to work where there is a few set's of lights that diesel German whip drivers just love getting in the wrong lane at because they don't want to wait behind a couple of cars.
I love flooring it when the lights change and see the look of "oh crap" as they expect to just cut in front of a Focus :D

So looking to get a dashcam setup for the new wheels.

Would like front and rear, as well as parking mode (whatever that is called) ideally as small and unobtrusive as possible.

Not too worried on the cost, upto a few hundred for the right set up.

What would people recommend?

I had the Thinkware F750 2CH setup hardwired in to my Volvo S60. It wasn't cheap but was well worth the premium over the cheaper models as it's got a lot more functionality than just being a 'dashcam'.

Nice and discrete located above the rear view screen, and worked great in parking surveillance mode. Once it was setup I forgot about it and just let it do its thing which was great.

Unfortunately I sold the Volvo and wasn't well enough to remove the F750 at the time so let it go with the car for an extra premium.

Only downside of this config was that night time recording was pretty darn poor. However the reason I havn't bought another one for my new CC is that the F770 was announced at CES 2016 (January) this year which includes an improved night mode and couple of other things.

Waiting on the F770 :)

The ‘Super Night Vision’, which is optimized for dark parking environment, delivers up to 10 times higher brightness than existing products, featuring a new image signal processing (ISP) technology and real-time video processing function. The ‘Time Lapse,’ embracing improved video storage method, can record the details of the parked vehicle by extending the recording hours by up to 16 times compared to regular parking mode.

PS - F750 64Gb 2CH (front and rear) cost ~ £250 - fitting from a local dealer was another £50 so about £300 in total.
