Dashcams!

I bought this as my rear dash cam. Only just found out about these....it has a dash cam mode built in, does 1080p/30fps, has a Sony sensor so really good night video quality, it has a very good battery like most GoPro (and clone) so can continue filming for up to 60mins after you turn off the engine. It even has G-force sensor and motion detector, 1/3rd the price of my DOD LS470+ and 1/2 the size !

Not my car but sample vid.

Why do you guys feel the need to have dedicated dash cams?

I don't need my phone when I'm driving so I use an iPhone 6, £2 app and £3 screen mount; have done for the last 3 years without issue.

This admittedly doesn't cover my rear perspective but works perfect other than that!

My phone mount is lower down on the centre console, it's also my music/podcast/Waze.

I've recently got a Foxeer Legend cam, primarily for use when flying my quadcopter. It takes utterly fantastic 1080p footage at 60fps on the quad. Tried it in the car the other day and it's excellent quality wise. Next step is to give it a whirl on the bike. :D

Because that A) is a gigantic faff in comparison to a neatly and discretely-installed dashcam that powers itself on/off automatically each time you get in the car, and B) looks absolutely crap.

The iPhone 6's lens doesn't have anything near the angle of view of a dashcam, so it's no good.

Haha, whereas of course having your car rigged out as a spy-wagon looks totally non crap? :p

Having 5 inches of reflective glass pointing back at you is a bit different to having a camera tucked behind the rear view mirror though. If you do it properly it can be hard to spot.

You can't deny that a small dashcam tucked away at the top of the windscreen looks a lot better than a phone slapped in a cheap wobbly holder in the middle of the windscreen with wires trailing everywhere :p

Why not? Why do people put exhausts on their car when stock is completely fine? :p

Looked at the Nextbase Duo 2x camera dash £179 can I get better than this?

Shall wait longer as Maplin said Nextbase are rolling out new ones so hoping the prices goes down

The Dod LS470+ is the replacement for the 502G which is their top of the line model as the LS 460 is the same as 502. It is just branding between region from what I can gather. The ls470 is out elsewhere and can be imported or purchased on Amazon, I have one and it is good however I have bought the Git1 this week and I must say it is smaller, much cheaper and just as good.
