Dashcams!

My video was a video of a video as mentioned :p I didn't have time to mess about cropping the video.

The car didn't notice traffic had stopped, tried to brake but was going to end up in to the back of the van so decided to try his luck with a nissan xtrail! Fortunately I was on the ball, else he'd have been toast in a head on. He spun out in to the Armco once he got through the gap.

I submitted it to the police and I think he's going to end up with 3points for due care and attention, a bit harsh maybe but a bit of tough love won't do any harm. I feel less guilty when I think what could have happened if kids or a cyclist were involved.

That was absolutely ridiculous! Great reactions there but what a tool, serves him right with the points, could have been much, much worse!

This is why you have both front and rear dashcams.

With those who have hard wired in the cameras, are there any car battery issues with them running all the time?

They only come on when the car starts so no problem. Unless you mean cameras that are permanently on in which case it could cause issues if the motion detection software is poor

I did have a second camera but my sister had a ding and I ended up fitting it in her car. I'm very tempted to get another now though.

Thinkware F770 about to hit our shores soon:

Found a review here: https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/thinkware-f770-review

I pre-ordered to get it for only £250 (that's cheaper than I bought the F750 at!) - hopefully due to ship out to me next week some point.

Could have done with it two days ago when some old giffer scraped the side of my car at the local hospital car park, darn it! :(

Is the price going to raise upon release? If so, any idea what to?

Hard wired mine into my new Fiesta today, easier than I expected and I didn't need to take any trim off, just tucked under. How can Halfords charge £30 for doing this?

Also, I'm looking for a cheap cam for rear facing, any suggestions? I'd like it to be small.

Just bought one of these too, I was looking at getting the Rexing V1 because it is discreet and cheap but that doesn't have a parking mode like the N1.

Must admit I'm thinking of getting the rexing. Like you say it's one of the most discreet cams and that's what I'm after. Also the cam lens is very close to the screen reducing reflections.

On the flip side the N1 is small, can be swivelled round to point in another direction quickly if need be. Can be transfered to another car easily, better quality.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but is anyone's Dashcam having issues with stop/start?

My Mini 0806 keeps showing 'low battery' with repeat alert noises when the car restarts after turning off at traffic lights. I'm able to fix it by unplugging the cam and then plugging it back in, it's pretty annoying through.

Nissan Leaf owner found his dealer taking the pee....or is that giving. Blurred but not really work safe and there is a mild swear in the video but think this needs to be out there.

And the detailing world thread.

I've only been driving two months but this makes me trust people even less to handle my car.

I did have the interior detailed when I got it, the guy did a cracking job at getting out oil stains embedded into the cushioning!

Its a saving of about £30-£50 bud compared to other suppliers (not sure if it'll raise up after launch). I got the hardwired 32Gb version (front and rear) pre-ordered from here:

I've noticed other suppliers putting up pre-orders this week too, but they were more expensive.

I've already got an email from this supplier (link above) saying they are due in mid to late next week and pre-orders will be shipped next day.

If you can, I'd suggest plugging the power into the dashcam itself whilst it's in the mount. I've found that plugging into the mount caused issues whereas plugging directly solved it... for what it's worth, the GPS mount (if fitted) still works fine.
