Dashcams!

My question is, legally and for insurance purposes do the time and date have to be correct?

Before I sent my dashcam footage to the insurance company, I spoke to them and noted that the time was incorrect; they said that it wasn't a problem.

Any electrical bods here could advise me on wiring in a relay delay switch?

Problem is when starting the engine it's causing the camera to lose power briefly, causing it to shutdown and it doesn't restart automatically when power is restored.

I've got it hard wired into an empty fuse bay using this kit.

I've gone and purchased this to delay startup by 10 seconds.

With regards to wiring it is this correct? Does the camera still need its own power source, or will the relay pass it through? (As this device seems to suggest otherwise).

Thanks!

Funny you asked that as it (the angled cable) literally just turned up through the post lol

Ive also ordered a transcend premium 64gb card to testin it. Shud hopefully be here next week

be interesting to see how you get on, so I take it Sandisk ones don't work as well as the Thinkware specific ones?

It was a samsung one I tried first bud - that didnt work. Will let you know how I get on with this transcend one. I tried an older Sandisk one and that didn't work either. :(

where did you get your F770 from Zoomee?

From here bud:

Think the retailor was Chameleon something or the other.

Next door neighbour is really annoying me now, so I've ordered a thinkware F770 front and rear, plug and play version (32Gb) hard wiring into the fuse box with a fuse wire like I done previously, need the "parking mode , motion detection" feature

Bad news is I ordered the wrong right-angle cable from china lol - took 35 days to get here but I quickly realised the camera angle is so messed up its worse than using a straight connector lol.

Good news is I've figured out which Micro-SD cards you can use to upgrade your thinkware dashcams - Transcend Premium 300X has been working a treat this past week. Tis currently on special offer at the tree.

This one:Transcend 64GB Premium MicroSDHC Memory Card Class 10 UHS-I - Black

oh no Zoomee ! 35 days was a long wait !

thanks for the info about the memory card, I had a feeling that if there's any card that would work in there, it would be a transcend

Theres also conditions on where they can do the installatuon, it has to be a drive or somewhere private. They will refuse to install if its on the road lol

They are bound to as it is against the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, section 4:

(1) A person who carries out restricted works on a motor vehicle on a road is guilty of an offence, subject as follows.

(2) For the purposes of this section “restricted works” means
(a) works for the repair, maintenance, servicing, improvement or dismantling of a motor vehicle or of any part of or accessory to a motor vehicle;
(b) works for the installation, replacement or renewal of any such part or accessory.

(3) A person is not to be convicted of an offence under this section in relation to any works if he proves to the satisfaction of the court that the works were not carried out
(a) in the course of, or for the purposes of, a business of carrying out restricted works; or
(b) for gain or reward.

(4) Subsection (3) does not apply where the carrying out of the works gave reasonable cause for annoyance to persons in the vicinity.

(5) A person is also not to be convicted of an offence under this section in relation to any works if he proves to the satisfaction of the court that the works carried out were works of repair which
(a) arose from an accident or breakdown in circumstances where repairs on the spot or elsewhere on the road were necessary; and
(b) were carried out within 72 hours of the accident or breakdown or were within that period authorised to be carried out at a later time by the local authority for the area.

I received my F770 today, will likely wait until the weekend to install it when I'm able to pay it more attention and do it properly.

I have just ordered a Blackvue DR650S with the PMP , now just have to wait for the car to be delivered so i can get this installed :D
