Dashcams!

I have heavy tinting (limo? Basically looks solid black from outside) but the rear facing cam seems fine (in daylight at least)

Sounds pretty much the same, although the suppliers describe it as ambulance spec, so you can see which market segment they deal with :p.

What would your ideal dashcam be?

Mine would have cameras with good sensors front and rear - additional cameras to each side would be nice too - and it would record simultaneously to two separate cards or drives, so you can immediately give one to the police.

A thinkware F770 lol :p

Sold my CC due to personal circumstances and unfortunately the guy I sold it to insisted on keeping the dashcam (paid me £200 for it lol!) so I had to let it go (again!)

Got myself a scirocco and the ex-wife a Golf GTD and just cba with spending money on them to fit them out with dashcams. The worry for me was always the missus driving my new shiny car, now I couldn't care less lol.

What are the nextbase cams like? I'm thinking of getting a 312GW.

As far as im aware, yes the nextbase ones do seem to be good

i would compare it to a thinkware, on price

if the next base is say £100, look at a thinkware equivalent, and compare the two

I have one of these fitted in my Kuga,

I like it a lot, but had a minor issue start after about 6 months where the screen would just freeze after it started recording all I had to do was turn it off and back on and it would then be fine for weeks then do it again.

Spoke to Nextbase support and they suggested doing a firmware update which I did and since then it has worked flawlessly.

So would recommend the 312gw but would recommend first thing you do is a firmware update.

Small and subtle, better to not even notice it from the outside. No screen, no weird lane departure/warning features, just good quality footage at a high frame rate and an app that controls it and receives the footage via BT or WiFi and of course reliable.

Fitted ddpai m6 plus yesterday

Hard wired it to 12v constant live fuse using a tap, also used the ddpai hard wire kit which will cut power to the camera if If senses low power on the battery.

Seems fine so far

I hardwired one of these in my Mk3 Focus last night, took around 15 minutes.

Camera quality seems fine, bought a class 10 32gb SD card for it (£10) and the hardware kit was £20.

Chucked it into a permanent live, this enables the parking mode to work also.

May look at a rear camera soon also

Looking at getting one of these for the new car, is it really worth spending the extra on a Blackvue? I want something discreet and without a screen that can be tucked behind the mirror.

If discreet and no nonsense you are after then the Blackvue is totally worth it. I cant even see my Blackvue when im driving as it is positioned behind the rear view mirror perfectly.

Cool thanks, and does it show things like current time, speed, location etc?

What have you done with that? Why does it bounce about? Why does it look that bad? Surely that's not the original footage (hence the time sliding in and out at the bottom?)
