Dashcams!

just looked at my footage from my camera, and Wednesday night at 10:48pm a guy walks up to my car from behind my car, and gets hold of my windscreen wiper pulls it up , looks around and puts it back down again and walks off
he let go off the wiper from a slight height as the camera detected a collision of some sort

if the cam makes that beep out loud then he probably thought your alarm was about to go off or something - looks like he thought about stealing a wiper

Wow, a lot has changed in the time since I got my crappy dashcam!

What do people recommend now for under £100? I would like it to be as small as possible really to hide behind the rear view mirror. Thanks!

Thinkware owners, is it possible to download footage onto phone memory whilst in the car? Had somebody fiddle with my car so took the memory card out , now car is vunrable

Connect to the wireless hotspot, open the app, select the type of video it was (continuous, parking etc), select the footage you want and then click on the three dots to bring up the download option. From memory anyway, I don't have my phone with me at the moment.

its ok, i worked it out, i just clicked on the fottage i wanted, and i clicked on "download to internal memory" realising it goes to phone not the dashcams internal memory

thanks homer

I've got a nextbase (312 i think) and its currently on a switched live feed. Considering moving it to a permanent feed but I've concerns over battery drain. The car does small journeys (2x 2mile journeys a day) with some decent trips on the weekends. Am I being overly cautious?

I was wondering this too, before i make the dive and wire one in live

Got a DDPAI M6+ arriving tomorrow with hardwire kit but don't think I'll be leaving it in the car all the time - might try the parking mode at some point but for now it'll run off an ignition controlled fuse spur methinks!

What happens with hardinstalled dash cams and someone trying to steal it?
Most insurance companies don't like things on show and it would be annoying removing it all the time. Plus you'd loose parking recording if the cam has it.

Mine has been in the window for the last 8+ years without issue wherever I have parked, granted it has a permanent mount and not have a rubbish sucker mount shouting steal me to the world, you can't see it unless you look.

Even hard wired cameras will have a plug in the lead that plugs directly into the camera only the other end is permanently attached.

8 years, how on earth did you mount one of these :D

We picked up the Thinkware F770 yesterday, got it rough fitted just need to find some tape that is sticky enough to hold the cable where it's not able to be tucked away, but won't leave a nasty residue :)
Then it's fitting the rear camera.

What prompted me to buy it was a near miss with a biker who overtook oncoming traffic and missed us by what seamed like inches in one of the local towns.

Pretty impressed with the PQ and the main unit, but the app seems a little unstable on my nexus 7 (the later model).
