Dat beard

Out of interest are what the reasons of people in this thread for growing a beard? Is it because you find it manly? as a fashion thing? cant be bothered to groom? religious?

Hides my overbite a bit and keep a my face warm which is handy working outside all year round. Also laziness although it doesn't seem to be getting much longer sadly just seems to have been at this length for months now.

Mainly as a confidence thing, to see if I could actually do it. Plus, my dad had one, my uncle and cousin have got one and I felt had to keep up family tradition by growing one.

And because Beard

Not quite on epic beard levels yet, still growing, usually trim it but going to see how it goes/grows! Certainly not doing it for fashion reasons; laziness and curiosity.

I have had one since I had to start shaving at 16, I can't think of anything more ridiculous than obsessively scraping my face with a razor every day.

I made the woodsmoke recipe minus the rosemary and bourbon oil.
Smeels nice, feels nice and gives a smidge of hold which is perfect for my curly mess :D

I converted to grams and adjusted slightly to allow for excluded oils.

60g beeswax pellets
60g shea butter
20g cocoa butter
30g jojoba oil
25g almond oil
Cedarwood essential oil to suit (I used 8 drops for a mild smell)

1 tbsp is about 15g
1 tsp about 5g
is the conversion I used

So you just buy all this, throw it in a pot and cook it until it turns in a balm?

If so I am all over that!

Yup, I got ingredients from amazon.
The batch I did was about £5 quids worth and made about 200g/ml
But I only bought small amounts of each, if you were to buy larger amounts it would make it even cheaper per batch.

Many thanks Pery, going to order them all on Monday!

The beard balm is working wonders :D
Much softer and manageable now, and just the right amount of hold for giving the tash a cheeky bit of shape :)

I fancied a change, I've never grown a proper beard before in my life. Longest I went without shaving was 3/4 weeks and it grew a good bit in that time so I was confident I would have no issues growing a proper beard if I tried, so I did :)

Awesome! I want to make a beard balm now!!

How's everyone else getting on with their beards? I used Kalamazoo for a few weeks but didn't really notice much of a difference :(
Think that balm is the way to go!
