Each to their own. I find the official ratings unreliable. Which why something like common sense media gives you are more average rating from different opinions. Common sense media is giving Witcher 3 about a 14 rating. Which seems to align with most peoples opinions here.

I just don't subscribe to the idea of giving up because a kid saw one other thing, or giving then unrestricted internet access and all other control folding because of that. But the tech and social media companies do it on purpose. They should be taken to task for it.

Now compare that to the Witcher 3....
It'll be fine.
As others said Facebook, Instagram Snapchat probably messing her up more.

I went cat style whem I played through it, fast attacks bad defense. I wouldn't recommend that tell her.

Has anyone seen the super hero cartoon Miraculous (ladybug and cat noir) ?

My lad enjoys it (he is 6 and a little younger than its target audience but his friends watch it and have the merch etc).. ... Now maybe it is just me, and my own bias. I am told by some parents that it is good for kids to watch a program where the female is the clear strong character and the lead hero.... however to me it seems highly sexualised (a female friend of mine tells me i am just a perv and it is all in my head)...... this is aimed at pre teen / early teen maybe kids but i would say i think it is as inappropriate to kids my lads age as witcher 3 is to 15 year olds TBH but no one seems to have issue with it at our school..

A lot of people simply don't monitor or look at what their kids are watching.

I think there is a lot worse going on in real life these days. There is a lot of sexualisation generally. I was talking to a friend the other day and saying when we were kids to find anything sexual was difficult. You'd really have to go looking for it. These days its being thrust in our faces all the time.

I think for kids today its important they know that there is fiction/fantasy vs reality. If they understand that then I don't see a problem with the Witcher 3. I'm sure these days shes done some sex education. She's probably seen sexualised images already in general media. Witcher 3 might have been shocking for some back in the day against a semi bland background of society, its probably today on the tame side.

Also lets not forget Witcher 3 has a very indepth story that she'll enjoy it. Anything else is just a side show. If shes in to the hard metal like you've said on a previous post and shes not turned weird, then she keeps things in context.

Funny you mention sexualised stuff. My kids (5 and 8), have seen various music videos (Katy Perry roar springs to mind), and all I get is "her top is too small", the innocence of youth lol. I don't really moderate what they watch, they tell me if they find it too scary. I having suggested daft things like alien and that was a definite nope (was mostly joking about actually putting it on). I did let my son play a bit of gta v (just for driving) and he dnjoyed that, but they both realise games arent real.

You'd only need a copy of the Sun to see naked women until recently! Then all the ditch porn that kids found back in the days before the internet.

I used to do IT support in the education sector. On a visit to a primary school, 3 of the young girls in the Year 4 class had all decided to come out as lesbian on the same day.

Clearly. That isn't how it works.

But kids see things on the internet, the mind begins to wander and they too are now the heroes of the world that come out as gay. This is how children end up on medication that delays or stops their development.

How can 3 kids decide on the same day, that they are gay?
Is it possible, that their minds were twisted and warped by viewing content that a mind at such an age cannot possibly process?

I've worked in safeguarding, I am well aware of the risks posed to schools by a child who accesses something they shouldn't..

The school are up for all kind of legal drama, and the MSP (and me) will also be held responsible.

The irony of course, is that whilst the schools connections may be filtered and protected, the child will be accessing whatever they like when they get back home.

When you see the search history of 8-9 year olds and what they access, it is clear they have knowledge of things that no child should at that age, and that is the fault of the parents and the open internet connection they allow their brood.

Pathetic.

Nation of big ol' softies.

So no, your daughter should NOT be playing 'The Witcher' and you're a special one for coming on an internet forum of nerds to ask if it is okay.

A real, special one.

Seeing a pair of natural boobies is nowhere near the level of depravity that exists on the internet.

I remember getting excited on foreign beaches as a young boy..

My young teenage daughter has asked to play the witcher 3, what is a 18.

I think you should let her but keep tabs on it. Do tell her that if she feels uncomfortable then it's okay to stop playing and talk to you. And you might want to brush up on your medieval and early renaissance history so you can discuss how people really behaved.
