***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

got to the point now where there is nothing really to do, got all the equipment i'll ever need and now all thats left to do is looking for random people to shoot...

precisely why i avoid those kind of areas like the plague, if its not for the server hoppers then you know you could have someone like Toejam hiding round every corner just sitting waiting for someone to come walking through a door looking for gear only to eat some bullets :)

Ill take my chances out in the country, ill let all the cannon fodder flock to the cities and airfields, thats just not the sort of "gameplay" which i enjoy.

We were only there because my friend had been killed the day before and spawned near the coast, we figured we go have a look then venture north, got some gear and the server crashed, swapped server.. he gets killed seconds after logging in.. so we then decided we wanted his stuff back. Wasn't intentional 'camping' but was defending the equipment on the floor.

What do you expect a person to do in that situation? I can't leave without shooting my way out.. especially as the triggers already been pulled on my friend I can't enter without shooting my way in, I'm hardly going to go in asking for a hug! Thanks to server hoppers I cant just watch the building I literally have to sit ontop of the body.. and because bodies disappear I have to get in to strip the body before he relogs.

We're up by Vybor now... oh no we're not because another server crash caused me to turn into a fresh spawn :/

Doesn't matter how much you try and avoid something its inevitable sometimes and at the moment, the majority of secluded loot areas dont actually spawn loot so you're forced into it.

Frankly, if there hadnt have been hostility to begin with, people wouldnt have had to die. Its not like I deliberately went and camped it and server hopped looking for people lol

Killed some clan/team(5-6 of them) called sd or something who killed our friend Longbow(fresh spawn) in Balota, not so tough when somebody with a gun shooting back at you lot are you!

Well I'm an SD and I was tucked up in bed so are you sure you have the right people? Also we were no where near Balota...

Will ask the guys later if it was one of them but we only have about 5 of us with the game in total and I know most of us were offline

Dont worry mate not havin a go, just saying thats a viable tactic for some people to get their gear then sit at a loot spawn and kill any body that comes through the door.

Its also clear that even with the changes to the 3rd person cam that its still way to easy to see round corners etc, even if DG refuses to accept that.

Bring on the 1st person marker :)

Yeah actually that might explain the sound of a shotgun..

You can see the wall impacts, which when I saw it live looked like a smoke/muzzle break but they all follow where my aim was.

I think in future I might just die regardless and see how it plays out, I just don't like giving skiddies any satisfaction!

Damn combat loggers.... :D

Mouse pointer hovering above Exit LOL

@sharpygsxr Yeah I know mate, just saying I was forced into the situation so had to make the best and some bystanders had to eat it too.. pretty sure I killed the people who killed my friend but its balota.. no-ones friendly there!

@dlknight - thats because thats when the markers show up in the video when my brains already decided this guys not right. I was half right, the desync was not right!

Also this is a +1 for not being able to logout while in combat, you can set arma2/dayz mod to kill the player if they alt f4 in combat but the systems not fool proof and sometimes the mod thinks you're in combat when you're not, if they can force this to happen it'd be good.

Another good solution is if you're incombat it leaves a dumb AI behind until your timer runs out and if that dies, you die. This was exploited for dupe reasons in the mod though

So who was that who just robbed/tried to revive my unconscious body as I was sliding along the floor? Anyone here?

I sat in some bushes on an airfield thinking I wouldn't be seen I quickly pooped to the kitchen to get a cup of tea. Came back and a Zombie was beating the bejesus out of me. I'd had that character for ages too!

funny thing is i dont see why all go to balota when few minutes from there theres a lot better places to get guns. also round the map there are better loot areas people just dont want to search as much to find them.

just had my first little go at this.. first thing i found was a baseball bat and a wolf mask couldnt find water or a can of pop anywhere i searched about 20 buildings then i got attacked by 2 zombies one appeared from inside a house on the stairs even though when i tried to go upstairs i couldnt open the door...then the other was poking out of the floor (thats the one that killed me it could hit me but i couldnt hit it)

I play add me if you like mate

added mate.

Yeah much better than the mod.

Still loads to be added, but as it is, there is enough in there to have fun.

The amount of times me and my mate have geared up only to get taken out randomly, or to have encounters etc

I just love the random nature of the game, how one minute you could be alone working through buildings to get some rations... the next, you see 1 or 2 pepole on the street and thats when the human nature of the game rears its head.

Shoot, talk... capture etc... thats not game mechanics, thats decision making, on the spot as humans. I like that, some shout friendly and you can have a good chat to them and each go on your way... others unload and if you can, it turns into a good firefight.

Hunting will add a new element ot the game, as I liked that in the mod
More and better Zombies will also change some dynamics if you want to go through towns unnoticed... one of the best ways to know if someone is about, is to see where the trail of zombies are running. Theres plenty to come and I expect it will be amazing.

Example story from me... my mate was in Vybor he had taken a zombie hit in the army base just south of there, so was looking for rags or a bandage.. .eventually he went unconcisous. At the time I was in Rogovo, so I had to race up there.... look for a med kit, which I found at the NWAF, came back did a blood tranfusion and got him going again. I probably spent 20 mins game time doing all that, but it was fun as it was a challenge and something you dont get in other games.

I have been having quite a bit of fun lately.

Noticed a lot of people server hop in that room in the top floor of the ATC.

If you have a moisin and a 12x scope you can get a good bead on this room.

I don't know if there is an aimbot with god mode out yet though as I shot someone from 250m ish away who had logged into this room and he turned around and instantly one shotted me in the head? I was in cover dressed in all green camo stuff in some trees on a hill?

Also I have been holding people up getting them to drop all their guns and ammo on the ground, and then killing them anyway, no issue with their body vanishing instantly if all their equipment is on the floor haha!

Lets face it, in a real zombie apocolypse only the psychopaths would live. Those cold people who wouldn't bat an eyelid about killing others.

To survive them others would start killing and not caring.
