***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

bases in mod are crap. most can be glitched into and stuff destroyed if you know how.

also most admins have the best whatever in dayz in SA this stops ! that is massive. in mod admins god. not anymore and will be so refreshing to know im not being followed round map via server tool live. :)

as far as i know only the restarting of server is available upto yet man they got a shock coming :D

I like the idea of bases, the thing is they take a long time to make so you don't want them ruined when you are offline. I think they should somehow be indestructible if you are a reg on the server and offline. But when you are online people should be able to attack you and smash your base to pieces. But even with that people would just sit in bases all the time waiting to defend so yeah I dunno. I think people should be able to build a small base to house one car and a safe/tent.

People would just combat log inside their base.

Someone mod Planetside 2 to zombies please (and make it realistic)...if only.

Surely there is someone/a group of people who are capable of making a MMOG realistic zombie survival game that has all the good points of arma but actually has an engine that is good for lots of players at once.

First one gets all my money.

So Rocket finally addressed the burning question..will standalone be out before 2014. He said it will hopefully be out before 2014. Dont know what this will translate into but it really is becoming a saga now. I am embarrassed to say how many hours i have put into the mod and how many hours i have spent following the development of sa, but even I am getting frustrated with the dragging out of the alpha release. Dean has dangled the carrot continually with the fan base, with one contradictory statement after another regarding release window this year. I have no issue with it being released in 2014, I do take exception to, what is seeming to be, a steam of mis information. Say nothing at all if it is all subject to change.

The fact he was willing to stream the game live means its ready to go, just clearly having problems with stability. However as DG pointed out yesterday they seem to have a stable server with 50 people online!

Funny thing is tho, any money when it comes out people will be like "He should have just been honest and said its not finished and pushed the release back".

it should be brought out now tbh. people who played dayz originally knew it had bugs and still does so its not like its a new thing people will accept issues.

50 man server is a big land mark. really cant wait for this. also hes got a few new staff join him some from arma team i think so hopefully it gets done sooooon.

who says he or that others arnt ? remember there is a team working on dayz not just rocket .

Exactly, I still find it staggering how many people don't understand this - the art team creating more assets will have virtually no impact on the networking and programming side of things at this stage.

The artists simply have more time on their hands due to the delays and so are creating more assets for the game, which is a good use of their time as far as I can see.

Isn't the issue with the zombies the animations? In which case it would likely be the artists working on them.

Agreed that some people don't understand anything about development though.

This is the Real Virtuality engine remember. Most of us know all too well what happens when a ton of players/vehicles and objects get together!

Lol at him still trying to act like he has inside info, part of the team and in the know... Still.....You keep making guess at release date mate, I'm sure if you keep guessing your eventually get one right.

Side note personally cant wait for this. I recon its going to be brilliant. Specially has I've never played DAYZ. This is all going to be new and shiny to me. The Dayz vets I can see why your getting annoyed 12 months late and still Rocket cant commit to a time-frame.

No need for that. Dg has been nothing but helpful in recent posts.
