I thought they put all the effort in and spent all their money to release this Standalone game for free...

I expect it will cost something upon release, its not mod so you'll have to download a completly new game aside from the arma 2. I expect it won't be £40 but it will cost something therefore beta is not the relase date, beta is a testing period for most games, the people who beta tested diablo 3 still had to buy the game.

The release date of the basic completed model is months away.

Be damn nice if you could trade your copy of ArmA 2 CO in for a discount on DayZ or even directly for DayZ without paying anything, for those of us who bought it to play the mod, so have pretty much already bought it.

No I think he means it will never be a finished product, as in retail you buy a finished product. It will probs be in Alpha/Beta all its life but yes of course we have to pay for it dude.
 
price will be 15-20 quid to get in alpha

should hopefully start around easter time


if you thought you were getting it for free just lol.

im kinda worried they might try and do a arma 3 on it and add things like buy 35 quid version and well add your name to credits :p
 
No i fully expect them to make us pay for it, it has grown from the arma series so in some respects i probably expect arma to want a share of the money, would suck if you had to buy arma 3 to play though like a cod zombie mode. i would have just bought zombie mode instead of £45 for blops2
 
Yeh you will have to pay, DG is most likely right on the price front. However I don't see me buying Arma 3 as I'm strictly a Zombie fan and wasteland holds no interest. Luckily though, is the huge choice of servers and possible future maps. I'll be damned If I'm playing on the ultimate hypocritical troll, banter, abuse server this place so loves.

Arma 3 one word "WOW" BF3 had the crown for best graphics and worst gameplay, Arma 3 has the crown for best graphics and best gameplay and its only in Alpha. Things can only get better
 
ArmA 3 graphics aren't that great mate, plenty of games beat it, by a lot too. The games pretty damn ugly in some areas and mediocre in the rest.

I don't dislike ArmA? The character models look great as do the guns/vehicles but that's all let down the second you look into the distance or at a tree. It's almost as if they hired a monkey to design the distant landscape textures and the trees at a distance look horrendous. I think ArmA 2 looks better overall, although I can see the improvements there just isn't an overall solid quality, in the old games the distant detail was just as good as that around you and it would blend seamlessly. Character models have improved but the environment has gone downhill. :(

dayz standalone guys not arma 3 ;)

ill wait for the bugs to be ironed out first with arma 3 before buying. also when dayz standalone is out more than half will be gone from arma to play dayz as usual.

dayz standalone will be the game of this year on pc.

You do know Arma 2 has a very loyal following right? Check all the mods/addons that are made for A2, probs more then any other game. Arma 3 auto gets that fan base plus many new people, DayZ SA will not effect Arma in any way shape or form.

I think you are hoping for far to much from DayZ SA imo.
 
arma does have a very loyal following but what has brought the masses to arma 2 recently ? dayz.

so yes ill agree arma 2 is decent as will be arma 3 but majority of players who have started playing it have because they got dayz.

before the arma crew come in i like arma think its a great game but if you think when dayz standalone comes out masses wont go to play dayz standalone you are sadly misguided. true die hard arma fans will probably play on but the general masses will go to dayz.

Suarez7 if you cant work out why dayz will be game of the year that is not my problem. people are fed up of corn fed games from consoles. i think you will see a change this year in certain games.

also i mean gameplay wise not sales wise as cod will win that regardless.

get a better pc and see the difference, i personally cant run arma 3 efficiently so i'm not buying it, there is no point playing a competitive fps if you cant run the game properly
 
How on earth can it win game of the year gameplay wise? That's just a personal thing, sales figures cant be argued with. ARMA 3 gameplay I already know will be way ahead of DayZ SA. The original DayZ player count will not be beaten in my opinion, it was a new idea. Now they're just releasing it with a few changes and it will cost again to those who already bought Operation Arrowhead.
