DC Vault

The board is a ROG gene, I was looking for a DVI output which it hasn't got, but looking again it has got an HDMI output but non of my monitors have a HDMI inputs (I know, get with the times grandad), but I'll get it going soon enough.

Thanks for the link Andy, I'll get one next time I order something, however I've sorted it now. I had this problem with another card, so with my new card I used a molex to PCIe adapter to get round it, and completely forgot when I took the card out to clean the dust off it, I ended up putting the melted plugs back on it, didn't noticed anything wrong until I put it under load with GIMPs and it kept crashing :o It was only when I took the PSU out I saw the molex to pcie connection. Back on OGR now and we should grab a couple of spots in GIMPs soon, but also lose one as a guy is coming up behind fast.

Note that the points in Free-DC aren't correct for several teams, HardOCP being one of them, so if you're using those figures showing a stomp in 17 days you'll be disappointed. They have another 40 million according to the SB's site :(

Still, I was looking at the ozzies anyway and thinking they could be done before xmas :D

The FreeDC stats are the same as what the DC Vault goes by, what some [H] members have done is put their DPAD team name before their Boinc username name on yoyo@home, which also has muon1 as a sub project, so their yoyoy@home muon1 scores are added to the stats at the SB site but it won't make any difference as far as the DC Vault is concerned :)

Not true.

I asked Rusty why Russia hadn't overtaken Free-DC in the Vault back in March. He never replied, so I looked closer and saw that Free-DC numbers are also lower in Free-DC. The Vault won't update until we pass them according to the totals held by SB's site, that is what happened for Russia v Free-DC positions.

Well if that is the case then it needs to be addressed, 'double dipping' that is receiving two sets of vault points for one project, shouldn't be happening. Moo wrapper isn't included in the vault for this reason, as you probably know when you crunch that it adds to the RC-72 score as well.

I'll wait and see what happens when (:)) we overtake them, and if it is as you've said I'll bring it up in the administrator section of the vault. Clearly the correct stats are being exported to FreeDC so there's no reason why Rusty can't do it.

EDIT: I remember them discussing this over at the [H] forums and even I joined in, it ended where Gilanthis said he was waiting to hear from Rusty as to what stats he was using.

I don't know how my team mates feel that actually crunch this project, but my concern is the double dipping situation, I don't think it should be happening but at the moment I'm not 100% sure that it is, PDW did point out discrepancies in the scores and rankings between two teams which I have no doubt was true, but whether it was down to double dipping is another thing. I see that at least one Russian team member has his DPAD team name next to his yoyo@home name but the situation that PDW described would suggest that it would be FreeDC team members that are doing this.

Like I said, best wait to when we overtake you (:p) I then we'll know for sure.

In order to get this issue resolved more quickly it would be helpful Coleslaw if you and your team mates could stop working on Dpad so that we can see whether the overtake happens sooner rather than later, thanks.

Said with a completely straight face :D

... oh and in other news, it's alive! board came yesterday and I got it going late last night, just putting it through its paces :)

Would these paces be on NFS as you stepped up there nicely :)

No, that's just my other rigs, I decided to fill my boots and put every thing on it when I realised how generous the points were. I have ran it there but just 56 work units, I'm trying it on all sorts of projects, it feels like going from dial-up to broadband :)

Are you still running the new stuff at stock ?

It's slightly overclocked, but bare in mind although they are rated at 2.2 Ghz, all 56 cores turbo up to 2.5 Ghz.
When it comes to overclocking I can't change the multiplier, only the bclk which I have 103.1 (didn't like 104) so they all now run at 2.576Ghz

Do you know how many watts it pulls from the wall when at full steam ?

I had been meaning to test it, just done so now being as you asked. I'm currently full steam on NFS and it's pulling just 264W from the wall , which I'm chuffed to bits with! I think the 1250W PSU I bought was a bit of an overkill :D though it has 6 GPU slots, I currently just have an old crappy PCIe card in there just for the display.

Just trying to compare your PrimaBoinca results as they are fairly standard to see how many X99's I need to buy to keep ahead :D

Hmm lots, I'm already thinking about getting another one :p

Also looks like the NFS gravy train is coming to an end :(
Still have fast ones completing in 10 minutes in the cache but new ones coming through are back to the more normal hour (on a non-cached machine).

Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Hey i got a monster catching me up on NFS !! gap closing each day
http://escatter11.fullerton.edu/nfs/top_hosts.php

Ah good to see tho lol, any pics of said monster?

It's a mess at the moment, I temporarily set it up to test it and haven't touched it since :) I do need a 24 pin PSU ext first before I can box it up.

Hanluc how much memory are you running? I managed blk to 105 and been stable. When you said you were tempted to get another one did you mean dual cpu board? I wonder how much the 22 core will be??

I've 64 gigs, 4 x 16gb. When I tried it at 104 the web browser and other programs were really slow to load, typical of a too higher bclk. Have you changed any voltages to get 105? I've not touched mine apart from changing the CPU load power thing from Normal to high, and yes another board :) 22 cores would be nice but crazy money, there have been, and still are some oem 18 cores on a well now auction site, tempting but they are around £1400 each, might just stick to the Extra Spicy ones :)

pfft, that's barely worth opening one eye .....
I can't see what you've got running as your machines are hidden, but i guess it's a mobile phone or something judging by your recent production :p anyway, keep it up and I'll be with you in approx 12 days ;)

Hey PDW, I noticed you are having a dabble on GIMPs :)

I get my trial factoring assignments from http://www.gpu72.com then enter the results into the GIMPs site as normal. They have much larger exponents to factor, either Lucas-Lehmer or Double check, the default ones at the GIMPs site are small and complete too quickly, unless you change the end exponent yourself, which is a lot of faffing about.

290/290x rock on that BTW and you can crank the clocks up really high.

Just thought I'd see what's what !

Thanks, I'll have a look at gpu77 when the current lot have been done.

For fun, and to see what it was like for folks in olden days, I ran the first assignment on the 8600 GTS before swapping over to the 750Ti. It took about 13 hours to get 4 points :eek::eek::eek:

The 750Ti is a lot faster and even though it is doing the sieving on the gpu running DPAD at the same time slows it down by around about a third. It only takes about 50% power and runs cool in its favour. Not sure how much of a problem being a 1.0 slot is for it

Despite all these problems I stormed past dekez to take 5th yesterday and should make 4th after tonight's upload :D

Will unleash the 290Xs when they have finished Moo :)

I'm surprised running DPAD effects production, the newest clients are supposed to use very little CPU resource. Talking of cards from the olden days Nvidia 5 series cards are excellent on GIMPs, they out produce many of the newer series.

Performance chart: http://www.mersenne.ca/mfaktc.php
The GTX 750 Ti is rated at just 137 Ghz days there, my 570s can do over 400, and my 290s overclocked @1125 (non x) do 735 Ghz days.

Remember you need a different client for AMD, mfakto.
