The In-game Training missions are pretty good. Also I recommend reading and re-reading the "Understanding SOI and SPI" chapter (pg 395 of the manual IIRC). Once you get a handle on this you're half way there.

It's not a release candidate, it is the Final. We have been internally testing the RC for a while now. You should expect an nice bump in performance from Beta 4.

I'm using a logitech extreme 3d pro and its cheap and cheerful :)

Great stick for newcomers to flight sims I would say, 12 buttons, twist rudder and a throttle lever so you can play any flight game with it.

If youre going to be spending large amounts of time playing flight sims I would choose something more expensive, but this is a great casual/amateur level option.

I have the same stick and it is more than enough for Warthog. This is what I use............

I use the 6 buttons on the Left as Modifier buttons so that ......

Button 1 = Cannon
Button 2 = Weapon Release
Button 3 = Nvgs
Button 5 = NWS
Button 4 or 6 = China Hat

Edit:- to make it clearer, Buttons 7-12 are on the base of the Joystick, 1-6 are on the stick.

Hat = Slew
Button 7 + Hat = Trim
Button 8 + Hat = Coolie Hat
Button 9 + Hat = DMS
Button 10 + Hat = TMS
Button 12 + Hat = CMS
Button 7 + Button 2 = Master Mode cycle
Button 7 + Button 3 or 4 = Zoom
Button 7 + Button 5 or 6 = Speed Brakes
Button 8 + Button 4 = Autopilot
Button 8 + Button 3 or 5 = Boat Switch
Button 9 + Button 3, 5 or 6 = Pinkie switch
Button 10 + Button 3, 5 or 6 = Mic Switch
Button 12 + Button 2 = CMS Z-axis

This is from memory so I may have left one or two things out.

Yeah the 1.1.0.6 patch could be a bit more stable. 1.1.0.7 is on its way though.

To solve the Controls crashes go to --> C:\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Config and delete the input folder.

Also if running an Nvidia GPU try the latest beta drivers, some have reported this helps. Oh and don't alt-tab from fullscreen, if you can help it, that can cause a crash with explosions.

Eh, I want a good helicopter simulation, but I want it to be the AH-64D Longbow Apache :(

Also, I'd probably forgot A-10C stuff trying to remember Black Shark stuff.

It also depends on the sale price. If there is one.

I'd love an Apache too, but the next DCS module is slated to be a US fixed wing aircraft, they haven't said which one though.

Maybe I can learn how to engage a target the JTAC is looking at now.

So frustrating going through a cold start, taxi, takeoff, spend 10 minutes trying to get the coordinates he's giving me to match up to where the target is, fire a mav off and CTD upon it's impact. :(

If that was the Effect.dll crash introduced in the last patch, it should be fixed.

Yeah that's better, I think the American price is cheaper by nearly $10.

I have to say I'm perplexed as to why an agreement couldn't be reached for the UK, why would Steam object to a Developer setting their own price level? Very odd.
