DCS:- Black Shark English Version Released!

No not for free, the sales model they are using is a little unusual.

The DCS series will consist of a number of aircraft built on a simulation engine (graphics, network, AI, terrain etc). You pay for 1 aircraft and the simulation engine at first, then you pay for additional aircraft modules. Not sure how pricing will work here, it could be that the engine will be free with a module and the modules will be $40~50, i don't know yet.

The simulation engine is upgraded and kept compatible with all modules for free, you just pay for the extra aircraft. If you do not purchase furher aircraft, your simulation engine is still upgraded for free, nice huh?

So if you purchase the upcomming A-10 but don't want the Ka-50, owners of both can still play online as the simulation engine underlying both will be the same.

Thats the gist of it anyway, head over to http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=72 and have a read around the forum for more detailed info.

I'm one of those that still believes in getting something physical for money spent if there is a physical version of the projuct available (only downloads I've bought are Winzip and Everet Ultimate). If its like £5 extra for the boxed version and manual, I usually go for that.

I dont think you will get a manual with the shelf version not the bigger one anyhow.

You will have to purchase the manual seperately.
The price of the manual and the date of release is still unknown at this time. So to be clear there is no manual with the boxed version of black Shark.

"Jewel Case: Games with the term "Jewel Case" means that, while the disc containing the game will be housed in a standard CD case, the case itself will not be put inside a larger box by the manufacturer. Usually this means that there is no printed documentation for the game, although instructions might be accessible via an Acrobat file on the CD. The jewel-case format is typically available for new games that do not require a users manual or older games."

Yes the retail version wont inlude the full manual, just a quick start guide. I am guess it will be £24.99 or less from the usual places, so still a saving than downloading.

I paid £36.15 for the download of the game, this may be due to pound to the dollar at the time. And I cannot say why the download will probably cost more than the boxed version....im just guessing here guys.

Chaps. I am an avid Flightsimmer, real aviation enthusiast and love a bit of shooting at times :)

For those of you who have played this, is it good? Will I like it? and how many PC's can i put it on?

You should love it, download the manuals for free from the DCS website to get an idea of the scope of the Sim, then buy it :)

As for the amount of PCs you can place it on, the short answer is 8 at the same time, for the long answer I can only refer you to the FAQ

If you are a true flight simmer then you will like BS, the flight dynamics are very good, you will have to learn how to fly this baby.
If you enjoy clicking your own buttons and reading instruments then this is the flight sim for you.
Nate has answered your other questions.
