DCS:- Black Shark English Version Released!

But first, after you get a few hours of flight (ie fiery rotor-less crashes) under your belt and in order to avoid lots of frustration (and many many more shattered rotor blades) read up on the Autopilot and stabilisation system. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36246

As nate said, welcome to Black Shark.

That link he posted is a great thread listing one of the more important parts of the sim, once you get your head around what the different settings for the autopilot do you will be flying like a pro!

I recommend getting to know the route mode, you can just sit back and watch the missiles go past :)

If you want a game sometime I would be jhappy to give you a rundown of the basics (only confident enough to teach the basics).

Thanks for the tips folks. I'm at work at not back home til Saturday now so won't be off the ground until then.....even then it's doubtful how far I actually get off the ground :p.

Going to read up through the forums though and wait for the Russians to recruit me in their airforce.

Great success.

Spent much of the afternoon reading the engine start up sequence from the PDF manual. Last night I pressed two buttons to just get the process started automatically. Would love to learn it myself though. :D

Yeah great game although im having issues mapped keys not responding on my x52 pro but this is down to saitek not BS.

have you got the latest Saitek drivers/profile program? They fixed a few errors in a patch a while back, things like the profiler not telling the difference between left and right shift/control/alt.

Go into the options - controls- and select "axis commands" (this lets you select what the axis on your joystick, mouse or other controlling device does in the sim)

BS1.jpg

Next, you must select the device (1) you want to change, then the axis (2) and finally "Axis Tune" (3)
BS2.jpg

Then adjust the dead zone and responsiveness for that axis. (it sounds like you will have to do this for both the X and Y axis on your joystick)

If this still doesn't work you could try the joystick in another sim/game, if it is still the same the pots in the joystick need cleaning. Open up the base get some switch cleaner (in ****** or something) and try to spray it in to the pots (the sensors) while moving the joystick about. Only when it is disconnected obviously.

Yes I do indeed sir. I dod post a while back that i was wiating for the boxed version..................well i changed my mind as the download version does not load the DVD checking software.

To be totally honest Nate you are 100% correct, it is madness to wait when you get the game you have so much leaning to do lol.
But yes even though im having quite a few niggles its great fun. best thing on my PC for the foreseeable future.

Im trying to setup the dual monitors but struggling. Any ideas?

My post on the DCS forums:

Hello people. Im stuck!! I've searched high and low ont he forums and unable to find a solution so sorry to bring up a new thread on an exhausted topic....but im out of ideas :p

I have my laptop monitor (main 1280x800) and my dell desktop monitor (1280x1024) and configured all the files but I keep getting this mess:

http://www.matt-clegg.co.uk/dcs_bs.jpg

(The airplane pic is the desktop on the dell monitor)

The monitors are set up in Vista as Dual View so I can move my mouse across one screen to the next. The dell monitor is set to the right in the windows settings.

So is this game any good?

It's a simulator!:p

But yes it is very good. It is a rather more indepth than the likes of Air Combat 28 or what ever it's called though.

I've been playing flight simulators since the mid 90's (ish) and this has been the most enjoyable. It's also the most rewarding from what I've seen so far. The sound of the cannon is great as well:D.

If your looking for an depth simulator with all the systems of the real thing then this is for you. If however you just want to get in, fly and shoot bad guys then it's probably not suited for you :).

Muttclugg I have only done 2 screens once or twice before, but looking at the first edited file i would suggest that the ["width"] = 2560, in the options.lua.

As for the Monitor setup lua files. Have a look at this link. http://vaaf.net/wiki2/index.php5?title=Black_Shark_MultiMonitors

It is a bit fiddly but you'll get it in the end.

Squark, for the genre Black shark occupies (High Fidelity Flight Simulator), there is nothing that matches it, or comes close to matching it. Whether Flight Sims are your thing is another matter, but I think I can safely say that anybody who has bought it, is very pleased with it. I know I am.

Edit:- just saw this, some nice flying here...

Thanks for the advice Nate. I was on that link you posted but still couldn't get it to work. Someone on the official forums has sent me some info which looks promising so I'll try that when im back at home.

Nice flying in that video. Wasn't that from a very early release?
