Dead Rising 3 latest vid just got me very interested in the game.

I was a little disappointed when I saw the graphics. I'm not really a need-amazing-graphics kind of person, but I was expecting more. Although then I saw how many zombies could be on the screen at the same time :p Maybe that's just the trade off, or at least until developers really get to grips with the console and we can have both.

Not sure if it has been mentioned before but had noticed different comments in the reviews regarding the framerate with some saying no issues and others mentioning a dodgy framerate and then seeing the following on the Edge review:

"The price for so many foes is some visual instability. The environments, crowds and lighting effects occasionally cohere into something to show off the host platform, but too often the engine shambles about with its texture-popping guts on show. Objects and road markings sometimes appear out of nowhere, while prominent textures flip between resolutions gracelessly. Such compromises mean the game maintains a steady 30fps (once you’ve downloaded the day-one patch), even during busy scenes, and once you’re playing there are no loading times to interrupt your journey."

So looks like with the patch the FPS issue is resolved at the cost of some other things - either way - looking forward to some shameless zombie bashing on Friday night!! :)

Hopefully there will be another patch soon enough that will resolve the other graphical glitches as well. I doubt the pop-in will ruin my experience much, after playing games like Mass Effect that had really bad texture issues at times I know it's not a major issue for me.

Anyone had a good enough play of this yet (some of you got your XBone yesterday)? How does it compare to the first two DR games? Mainly the first, as that was better than number 2 for me.

Does it feel like a DR game? All reviews I've watched have gone on about graphics/framerate etc, I don't care bout that, is the game the same as the previous? In that you have safe area(s), you go out and find survivours, bring them home, fight bosses here and there, level up, make weapons etc etc.

I just can't seem to find the right info about how the game mechanics are, the reviews seem to go on about the XBone more than the game itself.

Cheers guys, look forward to hearing your thoughts. I love the DR series, so addictive, but I'm just worried this has gone a bit of track.

Any updates guys as per my post above (quoted)? From what I've seen so far it seems fall far short of the original two, but like the opinions of those that have played it... Is it worthy of the Dead Rising title?

Better than all the others imo so far. The amount of zombies is just insane.

Does anyone know the Kinect shortcut to reset your outfit? Can't find it anywhere.

The amount of zombies is just staggering and totally makes the game, in my opinion at least. I can easily overlook the graphics when I'm steamrolling my way through 400 of them. Katana sword is pure awesome too, it really shows how good the limb segments are when you can slice off limbs, cut them in two, chop heads off etc. Not had any slowdowns or noticeably fps drops, in fact it's been very solid. I really like the models and the animations too, but only let down in the graphics for me is some of the textures and also there is some bad texture pop in at points.

I've never played the first two, but so far I've fought one boss, killed about 3000 zombies, made lots of weapons, ran around in goofy outfits (favourite is bare chest, massive horses head mask, jogging pants and some slippers :p), made some custom vehicles, rescued some survivors, did some side missions, went exploring, found some hidden items, got some levels and dished out upgrade points (such as bonus health etc). It's a really fun game.

So hard to describe how awesome it is to run around a corner and you run smack bang into about 200 zombies (not even kidding on the number, there is so many of them) then just wading in and limbs are flying everywhere.

What you've seen is wrong :) Not only is it worthy of being a Dead Rising game, it's possibly the best yet (admittedly I'm only 4 hours or so in, so that opinion could change). The sheer number of zombies in the game changes the dynamics from the first couple of games. In DR 1 + 2, you never felt truly threatened as long as you had a weapon in your hand, but in DR3 you never feel safe in a crowd. You can be surrounded by literally hundreds of zombies with only a weapon or two, and you know it's not enough.

Graphically the game is better than I thought it would be. The FPS is rock solid, and only a bit of texture pop in has shown itself so far (and it hasn't detracted from the experience at all).

My only criticism so far is that navigating the map while driving can be a pain, due to unmarked roadblocks. That'll be less of an issue as I play more and learn the map.

as a big dead rising fan im happy with it, graphically it looks current gen other than the number of guys you can see is impressive.

only played an hour as i wanted to finish installing my other games, but overall pleased its just like the other dr but with more going on
