Dead Space 2 .

Did you know what to do with the end boss?
It's stupidly easy, pummel her till she falls over, hit the heart as it opens up and repeat.

Force gun her and the little boys, plasma the heart. Took about 3 cycles on zealot and I don't think I got hit.

Unfortunately I didn't have the force gun. I was only rocking the plasma cutter, line gun and seeker rifle, with virtually no ammo for each one. I kept getting overwhelmed by the little kids, even using stasis like crazy. I found I had barely any time (or indeed ammo) to shoot her as I was burning everything I had to hold the kids off.

In the end I had to resort to running round the map until I was carrying a trail of them virtually in a straight line behind me, then I could turn round and line gun about 10 of them at once then kinesis the ammo they dropped over to me. I probably should have taken a fourth gun but the ones above were all I had upgraded during the game and I was sick of picking up ammo for guns with no punch behind them.

That's where you were going wrong.

If you just kill her the kids vanish (leaving all their goodies).

They are there as a distraction, ignore them and focus fire.

Zealot is really better for a 2nd play through. Going through from the start is harsh.

Doing a Normal run, getting your suits, and a load of ammo/health, makes doing Zealot on your second play through much less stressful.

new game+ makes zealot braindead easy

Ok mate I wil be on about 3-4 and then again after I have put Joe to bed, about 7 onwards.

Collectable guides ready ;) I will pick them up, you shoot the bad guys.

I see you did hardcore you whore. ;)

Got this through the post yesterday and got to Chapter 6 in about 4/5 hours. How many chapters are there? It seems like it could be shorter than the 1st game? Although its the same game, it is different in its own way, its faster paced and has less atmosphere than the previous.

Got this through the post yesterday morning, just now completed it. I enjoyed every moment tbh, i was worried they wouldn't live up to the original but for me they have. I'd argue it was a better game as there was no backtracking at all (technically, i guess the return to you know where could be considered backtracking :p) and there was more variety. The direction in some of the cutscenes/QTE sections was just brilliant, i especially liked the way the ending was directed.

My one complaint was the return of everyones favourite enemy, i didn't like him in the first game and i still didn't like him in the second.

The ending brought a grin to my face too.

[EDIT] Oh, i didn't adjust well to the fact that you ideally need to buy ammo every now and then in this (in DS1 you never needed to buy ammo, even on the highest difficulty) and that you should buy lots of nodes. At one point i had over 200k, that's when i realized i should start buying nodes, then the game got MUCH easier as i went from very weak weapons to uber weapons in one go. Even at the final save point i had over 100k, so just bought nodes and spammed them.

Spear gun was my fav weapon :D. Came in handy against everyone's fav enemy, one shot, electrocute, explode, nothing left.

Will be finishing my play through on zealot today, and have enjoyed pretty much all of it so far, with the exception of a couple of bits where I kept dying over and over - especially the part with the nitrogen trichloride tanks!

As above, wish there was a little more ammo dropped as spent most of my money buying that :)

Just completed it on a rental from BB (£7). It's a great game, although in my opinion it's 3 or 4 levels too long. Btw i did the whole game on survival difficulty, but no way could i do the end sequence, had to knock it down to normal :(

3 or 4 levels too long? It's a 5 hour game as it is, jeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus.

and I might add, my 5 hour run was on hardcore so I was certainly taking my time and getting every bit of ammo possible.

Lol. It could have been twice as long and i'd have been happy. It's a shame it was so short, but the original was the same so to be expected i suppose. I guess the days of long action games are behind us.

You did the game in 5 hours and "took your time" ?
Just lol
It's a 10/12 hour game be real.

Really enjoyed this one, almost as much as the first.

The ending was really well presented, with ****SPOILER**** Isaac just sitting there, somber, as the place exploded. I actually wanted it to finish just like that! ********END SPOILER********

The first major QTE was awesome as well (chapter 4 or 5), with the massive creature. The deaths there, if you don't make the shots in time, are stupendous.

My first playthrough on normal was near enough exactly 9 hours. During that time i collected over 100 logs so i was exploring lots, not rushing in the slightest. My hard playthrough looks to be clocked at around 6-7hours but thats because i'm playing around with the weapons for trophies etc.

I'd say 10 max tbh.

****SPOILER**** .

It was very much a nod of the head to the movie Aliens i reckon. The format and change of pace of the music was so very similar to the climax in that. Very well done.
