Dead Space 3 - Thread

Yeah, it's only the demo that I've seen, but I agree with TheVoice; it does seem to be taking an even bigger stride in favour of action game play over building an atmosphere. Early days, though. That said, I did actually prefer DS2 a bit more over the first, though the last level or two let it down somewhat imo.

[SPOILERS]

You'd be pretty hard pushed to find many that didn't enjoy the hell out of the first one, such an incredible game. The second lacked the big massive bosses but still had the excellent action and each room seemed utterly phenomenal in design (even the detail with each cog on an opening door)... think of that train scene where he rockets out and ends up hanging upside down or the space scene where the ship shoots out the windows and sends you and a boss flying out in space to fight... wow!

I just hope the next one gives us a few more massive bosses and I have to say I'm really looking forward to some co-op action. It still stuns me how little faith ye have considering how amazing the previous two titles have been. I guess the same folks don't think much of Chris Nolan films either. Different tastes and all that :p

I for one, can't wait for this game to be relased. I am playing DS2 on Zealot mode at the moment, in anticipation of the new game.

I just hope that any DLC will be made available to PC users this time around :(

Well no, because Christoper Nolan's films have been mostly consistently good, whereas the Dead Space games...haven't.

I lost faith in them as soon as I played DS2 and realised they'd sacrificed atmosphere and storyline in favour of turning the game into an action-orientated space alien shooter. The best part of the game was, ironically, the part where you're back on the Ishimura. Overall though, the storyline was flimsy, the characters were uninteresting, and Isaac sounded more like a swear-happy office worker than someone who'd just gone through a series of life-changing, traumatic events without a hint of PTSD in sight (aside from the laughable re-appearances of Nicole throughout the game).

The environments looked great, but for me it didn't have any of the attention to detail that the first one did. The use of sound wasn't as good, and there was seldom that feeling of complete isolation that I had in the first game.

DS3 seems like it'll be a decent enough third-person space shooter, but it's simply not a survival horror game any more and it doesn't deserve the Dead Space name on the box as a result.

I absolutely love the first two, never have I played a game and constantly found myself saying "this is such a *****ng amazing game". Let's just hope they keep the intricacies that we've seen thus far, their attention to detail in each environment is astounding.

It's also 20 bucks off for pre-orders at... hmm just google

$20 credit pre-order

That still makes it $40. A month or two after release it will be available a lot cheaper than that.

Visceral Games just dug an even bigger hole for the PC release

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-01-29-visceral-doesnt-want-dead-space-3-to-be-better-on-pc

"We continue to evolve our games as we develop them, but we certainly don't target PC as something that's going to be significantly different," Papoutsis said. "We aren't trying to create disparity in the experience that our gamers enjoy; we want to make sure everyone's having that same experience."

We're using a keyboard and mouse mate, they're using a control pad, same experience? I don't think so unless you force PC gamers to use a control pad as well, then you're ultimately a *****.

Either way, the PC community always finds a way to improve a game if it's been brought down to console levels, BF:3 for example with the injectors etc, but the translation for his message is basically this; 'We can't be asked to do it, so we're making up excuses to validate our reason(s) for this approach'.

I agree but the thing is they did not need to say this some PC gamers will just use it as an excuse to CBA to buy unless 75% off no wonder its most likely the last Dead Space game as no way it will hit the 5m copies EA say they need to justify anymore in the series :(

Well it won't hit their target at all with this approach.

"But it won't be fully optimised for PC in the way Battlefield 3 was, for example.

"The fact that we're allowing you to control the game with a mouse and keyboard immediately makes the game feel different," Papoutsis said.

Won't be fully optimised? Allowing us to use keyboard? LOL arrogant prat.
