Deadpool (2016)

‘Deadpool’ Shatters Box Office Records With $135 Million Debut

The movie no studio wanted to make is destroying box office records.

“Deadpool” has opened to a phenomenal $135 million from Thursday night through Sunday, according to studio estimates. That’s bigger than such massive superhero hits as Warner Bros. and DC’s “Man of Steel,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 2,” and all of 20th Century Fox’s “X-Men” movies.

Glad this film has done well, i saw it with the missus on friday night! 9/10 for me, hands down the best superhero movie i've ever seen will be going back to watch this again!

Did anyone find the villian a litte on the disappointing side?

Saw it Saturday with the missus. Utterly brilliant! A break from the norm of stuff we've seen so far. Just what was needed. Ryan Reynolds and everyone involved should be given all the accolades possible for this (obviously not an Oscar, cos lol!). But seriously, the movie is doing so well and is making serious money, I think Hollywood should now realise that these are the types of movies comic book fans are after and not what they think should be shown!

16 walls, people!!! :D

Ended up seeing it twice over the weekend and a brilliant film. The comedy stands up to re-watching it though I can see it not being a film to over watch as there wasn't much story behind the comedy. Still I would give it 9/10 as it captures deadpool perfectly and is so entertaining.

The T-Rex joke on the bridge after he broke his arms and the Hugh Jackman face at the end :D

Saw this last night with the Mrs - a lovely romantic film for Greg Valentine's Day.

It had me in creases, they made such a good film on the most basics of plot. Too many jokes to pick one out.

10/10

Quite possibly the best film I have ever seen. I haven't laughed out loud that much watching a film that had that much violence and boobs before. Can't wait for the sequel to see what they can do with a proper budget!

went with the Mrs last night, 10/10 fantastic film.

been a while since I have heard a whole cinema erupt with laughter so many times.

I genuinely can not believe that this was a 15 cert though!

Um, a helicarrier! ;)
Can't use the marvel movie designed ones but perversely still in the sameish parallel universe so they exist. Doubt they'd be allowed to reference shield though.

Aren't the X-Men and Avengers split in the films? But not in the comics? I thought DP would be Avengers movie world. Was a surprise to me he was in in X-Men world - at least in the movies. I thought it had to be a helicarrier

I don't know why this film is so highly rated.

Yes it was funny in places (terrible in others but I guess it's aimed at Americans in the main) but how can anyone seriously rate it as 10/10 and say things like best film ever?

I'm not saying it is a poor film but it is just your average Super Hero film, typical story line, good v evil, action scenes etc nothing ground breaking or compelling in my eyes. Am I missing something?

I recall being blown away by the original Matrix when I first saw it. The storyline was very gripping, the bad guys were great, the filming was ground-breaking. That's a film which stands out from the crowd, Deadpool is no different from any other super hero film in my eyes and not really amazing compared to other films genres.

So I saw this in 4dx last night, my first time watching anything in 4dx....

I quite enjoyed the 4dx, it really throws you about. the seat vibrations, wind effects, smells / water / strobes really add another dimension to cinema. It was amusing getting kicked in the back and sprayed with water whenever someobdy was punched/blood drawn etc. It wasn't perfect, some of the effects distracted from the film a little like when bullets fly past on screen and your hit by the air system in the back of the seat - It's fun dont get me wrong but after two hours every bullet it accompanied by the same 'tssshh' sound from behind you gets a bit boring... whilst other effects subtly added to the experience - small drops of water when Wade is walking down the street in the rain, for example. Really enjoyed it. Bonus points for showing the Batman Vs Superman trailer in 4dx as well

as for the film, loved it. Exactly what i expected, stuffed with humor (T-REX!), violence, no ridiculous plot (alright it was very simple but it was never going to be some contrived deadpool saves the world affair) and lots of references to other films/characters and real people as well. Although i did find a lot of the more subtle references were lost on most of the people in the cinema with me, like the bad dream about Liam Neeson HAHA i thought it was hilarious...virtually nobody else laughed. Nobody caught the Mr. Anderson reference either :o

the CGI deadpool was pretty bad, the worst aspect of the film for me, but not a deal breaker by any means. Overall, LOVED it. 9/10.

Was good, but not as good as the hype made out to be, felt like more needed to happen, it finished when it felt like it was maybe half way through. Funny jokes and breaking the 4th wall was good.

I saw this yesterday and it had me chuckling from the start ("Starring God's Perfect Idiot"). Very well cast, great humour throughout, good action sequences, enough plot to understand the character even if (like me) you don't really know about DP. I loved the Ferris Bueller call back inn the after-credits sequence. I thought the CGI on Colossus was pretty good too (given the budget constraints). One bad point was that his hands got in the way of a lovely view of Gina's lovely boobs. Damn!
It also helped settle a pub argument between a friend and I about film ratings. He was arguing that they hadn't got more lax but drawing a comparison between "Dirty Dancing" and "Deadpool" - both cert 15 (at least until DD was re-rated as 12A in 2004) - helped settle that one. :)

One of the things that really stuck out about Deadpool for me, was that people in the cinema burst out in laughter several times during the film. I've seen many many comedy films over the decades at our local cinema and very rarely have people burst out in laughter. There have been chuckles, a few quiet laughs but this film had the whole cinema erupting in laughter at times (especially the Deadpool fight against Colossus). That alone shows that the film achieved its target very well. The superhero genre has become so incredibly stale, so up its own ****. Guardians of the Galaxy helped a little bit to break the superhero movie mould but Deadpools irreverence breathed new life into an increasingly tired genre.

Saw it tonight with some guys from work and it was great. Proper laughing at points.

Many, many one liners that will now make its way into our daily work dialogue :p
