I've got my suspicions about the people that caused it but I'll sit on them for now as it would be a massive case of stereotyping.
Would they happen to keep "dags" ?

A burglary involving 10 people? That's a bit odd - don't they usually just act alone or much smaller groups than that - like 2 or 3?
I guess the fact it was a group and they're perhaps all trying to show off to each other doesn't help things... maybe if just 2 or 3 they'd run off, instead when vastly outnumbering the officer they're feeling a bit overly confident and it just escalates perhaps?
If it was a case of a whole group surrounding him etc.. then whether they all intended it or not I'd hope they all get charged with murder under joint enterprise legislation.
Also to stop them being able to communicate with each other in adjacent cells.Possibly only 2-3 involved and the others are obfuscating to make things harder for the police though I suspect something like some others have mentioned above.
EDIT: Statement is "and remain in custody at various stations" probably to deter a certain type from turning up and causing trouble if they were all at "one" police station...
Id just shoot all the *****.
Maybe they'll finally be willing to take them on. Or maybe not. Fairly well established these days that "travellers" are above the law, so long as they band together in numbers. From the Daily Mail ...
Witnesses reported seeing a 'huge police presence' at the well-known traveller site of Burghfield Common today, about two miles from where PC Harper died, and officers were seen blocking entrance to the site.

Its not rocket science is it, itll be a gang of chavs or ******.
He was run over by the sounds of it.
There is something wonderfully ironic about people using collective pejorative terms to describe "others" in a thread bemoaning a general decline in respect.. . . itll be a gang of chavs or ******. . . .
Probably in that particular area but not nationally id expect. Unless it comes from the top.Does anyone think we'll see a difference in the attitude from the upper levels of Police "leadership" towards Travellers should this officers needless death be confirmed as their doing. Regardless, the current Police "leadership" attitude of "ignore them they'll go away" has made them feel untouchable and above the law and brought with it all the associated problems of lawlessness (Brewery raid for example).
He wasn't wrong though was he.There is something wonderfully ironic about people using collective pejorative terms to describe "others" in a thread bemoaning a general decline in respect.
He was certainly wrong to use collective pejorative terms to describe "others". I am not aware that there have been any convictions but why should that stop people rushing to judgements in relation to entire groups of people? He wasn't wrong though was he.
Yes let's not forget the travellers human rights in this. It's the most important thing! There is something wonderfully ironic about people using collective pejorative terms to describe "others" in a thread bemoaning a general decline in respect.
I agree, taring everyone with the same brush just leads to problems, there are plenty of travellers who are nice people.... from old to new, I know horse drawn folk who are blooming lovely, I also know folk who live in their vehicles and travel about who are also lovely. There is something wonderfully ironic about people using collective pejorative terms to describe "others" in a thread bemoaning a general decline in respect.
