Declining attitude to law and order

You've definitely got an account there too tho...! :D

I've never posted there, at least this forums readable, the once or twice I've looked at TERF threads or other grim posts I remember thinking how bad the UI was and how all the code words made it not worth even trying to troll.

I remember being told of these stories who lived through it. https://www.redpepper.org.uk/the-myth-of-the-1970s/

Well certain people (a lot granted) point to that era a one off situation that justifies to never ever trust a left wing party "ever" again. Despite lots of incidents under right wing governments since.

Its hard to properly judge when you havent lived through it, but I can imagine a situation where you can have e.g. the city opposing government policy, then sabotaging the economy, to have a change of government, they would perhaps accept the price of reduced profits if it meant a new direction in the decades after to make up for it.

However I have come to learn that the economy isnt everything, especially the short term economy, the well been of the population as a whole, especially the poor has to be accounted for and a pro unregulated capitalist economy wont serve those people. e.g. certain things such as rented housing need to be supplied by the state. The railways since been franchised is clearly a failed strategy as well. You can have over powerful unions which cause too much disruption but likewise you can have over powerful CEO's as well.

I feel the country started losing track in the 1980s under thatcher, lots of deregulation which has never been addressed or reversed since, and we have the mess we have now as a result. Oil money masked what would be otherwise large budget deficits, the council house right to buy program which bribed people living in those homes for votes, and the Falklands war worked a treat to keep her in power. Massive amounts of repossessions starting end of 1980s and lasting into early 1990s was definitely not a good time for bill payers. We have had 40 years of right wing governments personally I feel some balance needs to be brought into play with a left wing government.

Are you forgetting the 10 year period where labour were in power, between 1997 and 2010? We all know what happened in 2008, least not forget about the war instigated by Mr Blair.

Something about a recession. Not sure why the use of $, when it comes to UK GDP, that was £1.3t at the start of the Blair's premiership, and ended at £1.7t under Gordon Brown.

It is currently as of Q4 2018 at £2.03t.

I'm sorry what happened in 2008 that was the sole product of the (new) Labour party? As far as i'm aware under the tutelage of said party, we went from a GDP of $1.5 trillion to $3 trillion.

That was new Labour, which was basically Tories in disguise. It was also a global recession.

Tony Blair is scared of Corbyn because he knows he will go to prison for war crimes ;)

I was a teenager at the end of the 70's. what I do remember is power cuts when the unions shut down the electricity supply, having to run to the shop when we heard sugar was on sale, along with bread and potatoes at differing times. there were also the 4day and 3 day weeks imposed on some workers.
not old enough to remember whose fault it was but they were crap times with barely enough money coming in the house, jumble sale clothing a normality for a lot of us and sitting in darkness after 7pm or 8pm when the lights and telly went out.

Two police officers don't get assigned without credible intelligence that there's a threat. So are you seriously asking if it's worth having two officers protect an MP to prevent another Jo Cox situation? Really?

Not only that, the objection comes from ultra reliable source..... some comments from nobodies on Facebook. Quality journalism being lapped up by Sun reading mouth breathers there. @chrcoluk has got to be either a Russian troll or the kind of person who reads the Sun, either way, not worth even replying to.

Actually I dont usually read the sun.

But you all are "assuming" there was a credible threat and why was she walking around like that in public with such a threat, no comments about alternative forms of protection. Just the assumption yes chrcoluk is an idiot this is the best way to protect someone use limited police resources "and" we must assume there is a credible threat.

Please provide intelligent responses instead of sillyness that I must be a Russian.
