One I mourn the most was Looking Glass Studios. (System Shock, Thief and a substantial part of the driving force behind Deus Ex 1 and some Origin Systems games).
Yeah, I thought they had a closely linked history. Iirc, was Ion Storm Romero's company? He specifically wanted Warren Spector to help manage Deus Ex development; though I have rarely if at all heard of any praise given to Romero for the success of the game. Not sure why?
Still exist mate, they just changed their name and were bought by Sony. Still making epic games in the form of Wipeout though
They also made an utterly amazing Formula 1 game for the PS3 but unfortunately Codemasters won the bid for the licence after that and their product is nowhere near as good imo
Well I don't know about biggest, but the company I mourn the most would be Particle Systems who developed the Independence War series - as we all know, the best space sims ever made.
