At the moment, I find that I am not buying games at launch (with a few exceptions) and seem to find this is rather beneficial.

A. When I do buy a game, I get them cheaper in a sale or something similar.
B. When I do buy them, they come with all the dlc's and have had a lot of bug fixes applied to them already.

Thanks too the steam sales, I have a bunch of older games I bought for cheap which I'm playing, like Borderlands (bought for £4) (which is awsome)

Anyone else the same?

Yep, it's got to be something very special for me to drop money on it at launch. I think the last time I did that was with RAGE as it looked fantastic but turned out to be very "meh".

Yup. I very rarely by a game on launch. The only one i bought recently was F1 2012 as it was only £19. Also i have preordered Hitman absolution because it was only £20. For most games, i just wait until they are around £10 or maybe less.

I would really kike dishonoured but in the steam xmas sale it will prob be around a tenner so i will wait. i want sleeping dogs as well but again i will wait till that is under a tenner.

Upside - wait a year, buy GOTY version of game for under £10.
Downside - no one to talk about it with, as friends have all jumped onto the latest 'big game'.

The only game i preordered recently was Dishonored, and that was only after waiting for reviews to drop on Monday. Otherwise, i'm waiting for the steam xmas sales.

(Memories of being burned by a Splinter Cell: conviction preorder haunt me still...)

Dishonored I will buy, but not at the mo, got a few games to get through first. Also own GW2 and Diablo 3 which I havent got in to yet as have a bit of a back log due to steam sales.

I do the same, the only ones ive bought on release this year have been borderlands, fifa and hitman, all of which were under £20. There is such a volume of games now that really you can afford to wait for the sales.

It just seems to make more sense to wait a few months to buy a game. Better price, dlc included, bug fixes applied.

It's different with online shooters or mmo's, but single player games I think this is the way to go.

Being burned by pre ordering Battlefield 3 last year was the final straw for me and new games. The only reason I have Borderlands 2 now is because I got it for £16. I have pre ordered Dishonored, but only because all the reviews were good and it cost me £20.70. Those are the only two games I've bought at or close to launch in the last year and its served me well.

I pre-ordered BF3 and was very happy with it :-) Special edition etc... One of the games I play the most at the moment.

I am glad I didn't get Mass Effect 3 at launch though, and just picked it up for half price :-) Currently having some low res texture issues with it, and the buildings etc in the beginning scenes look just terrible.. so that would have pee'd me off after paying so much.

I generally don't buy full price games anyone, I'd say 1 out of every 5 or 10 games I buy will be full priced. Doesn't seem worth it when they get discounted so quickly.

I pretty much will not buy any of the CoD stuff now because they keep the prices artificially high.

I no longer really buy games at launch either; same reasons as everyone else.

#1 DLC crap. You milked me once, I won't let you do it again.
#2 Crappy over-hyped games. Esp sequels to good games.
#3 Paid for reviews. Now I need to wait for quite a lot of reviews.
#4 Prices too high. I was happy at £20-30 when I got the box, owned the game, and could sell it on. Now its digital, locked into an account and costs £30-40 (+ more if you let them DLC milk you).

I now wait for sales on the GOLD / GOTY editions if the games stil interest me in a year after release, I'll get it then. Valve, gog and indies get a pass on that rule.

I won't buy COD games because they won't lower the price.

PC gaming this year has become IMO a disaster I do not see it changing much anytime soon either most games are DX9 console based design's PC is an afterthought more often than not in most publishers/developers eyes

They cite piracy as the main reason for lack of effort its more along the lines of they CBA to spend extra as console gamers offer easier profits for shovelware as they have no choice :( you drop shovelware on the PC nowadays more often than not your game will quite rightly sell low 4 figures once word gets out ;)

I have only 1 game pre-ordered on PC (Doom3 BFG) & will buy Deadlight from Steam in 2 weeks apart from that I have little interest in paying full price for anything else in 2012 I can wait for player reviews/digital sales nothing grabs me as must have the end of the DX9 era is approaching rapidly the PC needs to have a lot more content which takes better advantage of the hardware until that happens I do not see much change in the poor state of affairs right now :(
