Dell S2716DG - Dells first G-sync

Had mine for a couple weeks now. Really happy with it, though I have two minor problems
- PC sleeps, I wake it up and the screen doesn't wake up and needs re-enabling in Nvidia.
- No G-Sync indicator

EDIT: Just disabled deep sleep mode and will see if that makes any difference.

Just noticed Response Time is "Normal" - what do I sacrifice if I set it to Fast?

-Deep sleep is disabled on mine and wakes up from hibernate.
-Response Time should be Normal only
-There is no Gsync light but follow this gif if you want something similar to the PhsyX indicator

I keep hearing about this deep sleep issue but mine is set to on and when my pc goes it to sleep mode the monitor comes back on fine afterwards

Only thing with the nvidia G-sync indicator is its a bit big and it cant be moved..hopefully afterburner will add an indicator in the future :)

Hah, I have the G-Sync indicator on now, it is quite big!

In case anybody is curious - GRID Autosport 1440p with G-Sync indicator on.

Excuse the poor quality, Shadowplay doesn't like 1440p it seems.

Got one of these today.
Came from a Hazro HZ27WC IPS.

Obvoiously the screen coating is different and at first i thought the dell looked a bit washed out but after using the TFT icc profile and adjusting the brightness of the monitor I am very happy with the result.

Going to try out the G Sync in some games and see how it is like.

Does this come with the display port cable ? as in the Specification it say "- Connectivity: 1x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI (Display Cable and USB cables included)" or is it HDMI cable.

It does seem strange the initial settings do such an injustice to the monitor, though, compared to my old screen, it still looked very good, but as you say, trying a few of the profiles in this thread made the picture even better :)
Perhaps Dell will put that right eventually.

Try some of the icc profiles posted on here also there are a few knocking about:)

First impressions

Very nice. No banding or dead pixels.
Getting pretty good framerates (better than my cheap 1080 60hz)
Everything looks so small now.

I have a GTX970 OcUK Reference at the moment. Will upgrade when Pascal makes an appearance.

I was wondering do you game at 1440p? If so what's it like with GSync on? Have you noticed a difference?

It's bigger!

It does seem a lot smoother so yes, even with my eyesight I can see a difference.

My 970 isn't over enamoured with it though. The fan ramps up a lot more now so the sooner I can upgrade that the better (considered adding it to the loop but would rather wait)
Non reference 970s will probably be quieter as they have more fans to keep it cool.

Maybe get another 970 and SLI? What games are you playing and how much VRAM is being used on your 970? I'm thinking of getting the same monitor but concious of VRAM usage.

It uses all the memory. GTA V and Witcher 3 did this too at 1080 60hz but the card didn't get as warm.

Another 970 at this time seems pointless, I could sell mine and buy a 980ti instead but am waiting on Pascal as I can't afford it at the moment.

Yep. I found those issues most common in AC Black Flag so I should re-install that but then I'd want to play it again and have to do those eavesdrop missions.....

I guess going G-Sync or FreeSync ties you into AMD or Nvidia for a while so you can make the most of it. So if you're prepared to spend, its very much worth it (provided you game often)
