Dell U2713 HM

Mines with UPS - not had them deliver before so don't know how good they are and what time they might show up - there's a window where there won't be anyone about and you just know that's when the van will show up :p

That's good but I'd recommend viewing a 1080p film and check you can't notice the bleed. I'm glad I did but to be honest my one sound worse as no amount of lowering the brightness fixed it. Replacement is to arrive tomorrow so we shall see.

Thanks for the advice Nacho, but I don't watch movies on my PC. I watch everything on my TV instead.

The monitor is primarily used for gaming and surfing the web. So it's just a none issue for me.

Got my 3 today too, haven't noticed any dead/stuck pixels.

Going to try to see how the back light is soon, now that it's dark enough outside to be able to see properly.

Hopefully I'll still be happy with them (I know I really am already)

Update on this...

I've had a quick look at all of my monitors under low ambient lighting (on factory settings, as I don't have my calibrator with me atm) and they all seem to show some form of blacklight bleed in the bottom left corner (a yellowish tinge), however one of them seems to be quite a bit worse than the others (unfortunately that's the one I randomly chose to be the centre atm)

I'm going to have a proper look at them tomorrow (and maybe get some pics up of it) and try and decide if I'm going to get this one swapped out (which I probably will)

Has anyone swapped them out already? what was the replacements like? Was it better? Are they refurbs, or new units?

My swap out should be arriving today when i called up to do so they advised it would be a brand new unit. So that's what i am expecting.
On another note try tapping the bezel near the bleed. Does the amount of bleed change ? i noticed that if i wiped the screen in the lower left the bleed was worse however if i tapped the bezel the amount of bleed would then reduce however still not to the point where i was happy to keep the screen .

I picked my monitor up last night, not going to be bale to test it properly unitl after christmas though. Lets hope I don't have any problems with it, don't really want to go through the hassle of returning it...

Lets wait and see .

Well new screen arrived and calibrated, what a world of difference. Checked for back light and can't notice any back light issues or any screen issues at all. Glad i went and did the swap.

is anyone else finding that they are getting very bad eyestrain from their monitor? Despite turning the brightness and contrast down considerably, I am finding I am getting awful eye strain. This is with using F.Lux as well.

My other 2 turned up today again no issues as all, no pixel/uniformity/backlight issues on any of the three only as has been said the normal IPS glow but that's down to the tech not the panels.

Very happy with mine :)

Nope, been using one for a couple of weeks fairly heavily and not noticed anything different eye strain wise from the screen it replaced (DGM 1920x1200).

Took some photo's to show the two screens ...

1st screen

2nd screen

As you can see quite a difference between the two.
Damn, just got mine an hour ago and it's as bad as your first image if not slightly worse :(. There's also a stuck pixel in the bottom right corner.

Edit: Replacement ordered. Initially the CS rep said that there are known backlight bleed issues with the monitor although they are within specification but later on he said that the backlight bleed problem was fixed with more recent models and that he'd order one of them if available. The Dell CS was fast and helpful and as long as I don't have to swap out 5 monitors to get a good one I'll still be happy with the purchase.

If you come from aa smaller screen then you need to give it time to get used to it....;)

I received mine today....:)

 it feels wide compared to my 24" U2410
Guess am going have to get used to looking to the left to read the thread titles :D

Bad news fella, however don't let having to get a replacement put you off, I glad I did!
If it wasn't for your comparison I might have considered making do with the one I have so thanks for posting it :).

BLB aside it's a fantastic monitor. I used the u2713HM sRGB profile from TFT Central and it looks great.

To be clear, in a perfectly dark room you can notice some bleed but then im looking for it. As long as the screen passes my test of watching a film with black bars and the bleed is to a minimum and not distracting then I am happy. I have yet to have a 27" ips screen that does not have any back light bleed at all.
