According the manual I have read, there are only two slots.

so the answer would be no.

Havent received mine yet though, so that's just fromthe manual

What do the delivery company do with order thewy are unable to deliver? I'll be at work no doubt when they try so what will happen?

Anyone know?

Can't see anything on their website.

Just read through the entire thread but there is no mention of docks. Are there any docks available so that I don't have to plug in mouse/keyboard/monitor each time?

Wiped the machine and installed Vista bloat over the weekend. The change in nippyness has been quite noticeable. I shouldn't have installed the bloated blueteeth stack though, so I may uninstall that since I don't use it and the widcomm software is utter crap.

I currently have 2GB installed in my machine - can i install an extra 1GB or do I have to get rid of what i currently have and get a whole new set?

What i am asking is - do i have a spare ram slot?

Something like CPU-Z will show you how many stick of RAM you have, i.e. 1x2GB or 2x1GB.

Not really...no.

hmmm.....do you guys think the 8600GT card could play games well if it was hooked up directly to another display? COD4 comes to mind.

I'm asking because if I get one it will mainly be sat on my desk (and hooked up to a bigger monitor with keyboard and mouse) and used for games. But I still need it portable for other occasions.

Don't worry too much. I ordered on the 3rd too - only got my formal confirmation email today.

For reference they estimate delivery as being on or before 14th March - next Friday. Hopefully that means 2 weeks at worst :)

CANT WAIT :D

Well according to Walsh Western it's ETA is today:D

Still not arrived though

Like a kid in a sweet shop - have already downloaded all the XP drivers and guides so I can attack the machine as soon as the parcel arrives lol

ETA for mine is today also.
I emailed Walsh Western to ask them what happened if no one was there to take delivery. Did they store at a local warehouse for collection or would I need to arrange a different day for delivery.

They replied saying that my estimated delivery date was 11th March.

Thanks.

The graphics does ok on a laptop resolution of 1280*800, but on anything bigger I think it would struggle at COD4.

Will this RAM work in a M1530 guys:

Type 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM
Capacity 4GB (2X2GB)
Speed DDR2 533/667/800 (PC2 4200/4300/5300/5400/6300/6400)
Cas Latency 4
Voltage 1.8V
ECC No
Registered/Unbuffered Unbuffered
Heat Spreader No
Warranty Lifetime

It's samsung stuff and I'm paying £45 delivered for it - worth it?

Dunno about CoD 4 m8 but I've just installed and ran Blacksite: Area51 on mine.

I dont intend using my 1530 for gaming as it was bought primarily for web design and development work but I was just curious to see how it ran games.

Pleased to say it runs Blacksite ( a pretty system intensive game I believe ) as smooth as a babies bum at 1280x800 with the detail level turned up pretty high, motion blur on etc.

It also runs very well at 1440x900 only droping a couple of fps.

I'll probably keep at least one game installed on it although as I said, its primarily a work laptop ( handy for those quiet periods when you get a few minutes spare to yourself to go shoot and blow up stuff to unwind...lol ).

Mine too. They left it at a neighbours and the missus just rang to say she has it.

Damn you work, damn you!

:D

Well first impressions are very good. The chassis and screen are excellent. Happy to report no pixel issues with my 1400 screen - or any grain type problems (not that there would be with this panel).

A few questions about the software. Vista is nice and all but the amount of processes running on the Dell install is staggering. Well over 20 at startup. Using the funky info panel to measure CPU and RAM usage - at idle my memory usage is at 40%!! This is with 2gig RAM. Clearly that has to change.

I have XP all ready to go thanks to this thread but want to give Vista a fair chance. Can I do a vanilla Vista install with the disc Dell provide? what I mean is can I format the drive totally, install Vista and then use the Dell software disc to put basic Vista drivers on (gfx/wifi/sound etc), just as I would do for XP?

Stuff like trial macaphee etc I want shot of and given the discs that come with the laptop I dont need the Dell partition do I?
