Demon Souls PS5 Beginners Thread

NG+ is going better now, managed to beat the spider boss really methodically. 40+ hours into the game, really enjoying.

Already played Bloodborne and Sekiro to death, and have played a few hours of Dark Souls. Is it worth playing the others, too?

I enjoyed this, Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro but nothing beats Bloodborne for me.

I realise that doesn't answer your question but I just had to say I love Bloodborne! :D

The answer is probably yes anyway.

You killed the red dragon in your initial game? How do you go about that?
As a mage type character if you go to 1-2 and when the dragon appears just stand outside of his fire reach. Use the brass telescope to aim your spell. When you hear the loud dragon roar fire a soul arrow. If timed right it should hit his tail. He loops around so just keep doing this until he dies. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

I really enjoyed demon souls. First go at the genre. So I'll def pick it up if they remake

Same. I finished Bloodborne and it is indeed great. I prefer Demon's Souls, but great either way. The frame rate isn't great tho. Not just 30fps - a bad, uneven fps. Even when running at 30fps it's got weird pacing. With a tiny bit of work Bloodborne could polish up into something wonderful.

I must be a right weirdo because I hear people moaning about framerate a lot and I barely notice anything but really bad slowdown in games. I don't mind playing at 30fps at all and would always opt for improved graphics over 60fps of I had the choice.

Ac Valhalla is a good example. The performance and quality modes I can't tell the difference between graphically but one is 60 the other is 30 which is a huge gulf in visual animations and one not looking like a flickerbook. The 30 is like stepping backwards to a ps4 game no thanks.

Yeah the 60fps modes are great. Hopefully everything will be 60 fps or this gen all we have gained is ray tracing at 30fps......

Same. 30fps detracts consderably for me - not just in gameplay, but in visuals too. A static image may look nice, but as soon as you pan and start doing things the quality slips away. 30fps is certainly not unplayable tho. My issue with Bloodborne is it's wonky even when at a steady 30fps.

have you tried switching in Demon Souls? It’s horrific if it’s not in performance mode and you can’t notice the visuals too much either as it just adapts the resolution rap it can hit 60fps which in this type of game matters imo

No actually, I've just been playing on whatever the default is. Didn't even look at the graphics options.
