*** Desk and Room Gallery***

By far the best place to buy a desk is Ikea. I spent ages looking around for something with little luck. Then visted them.

Ended up with a stunning one for just over a £100. There are over 50 options excluding loads of worktops that can be be added to various legs. If you can't find something there then your probably wanting class/chrome. Apart from that the choice can't be beaten.

build my self a desk in a 1900mm long Alcove I have I just lined it out with some timber then got some 10mm Low Iron Glass and sat it on the timber which leaves me loads of leg room :) get some pic's up at the weekend needs a clean

Hey Blackhawk, haven't you modded that carpet yet???

Had a move around of my room the other weekend to see if I could make better use of what space I've got.

I swapped 17" Dell for a wireless dongle with a mate a few months ago and had to shift things about.

After the lastest shift around. Just need to hang my guitars on the wall now =P

Put the Dreamcast back!

some shots of my home office in Jan 09 still looks fairly similar but with a few more pics on the wall will post more up to date pictures later when my new mobo hopefully arrives back

Do you notice a difference with that?

Oh and cracking setup smogsy, as always
couldn't live with out it now, the difference was amazing. my blacks were halo blue :( the blacks are so deep now its wicked. sometimes i think my screen is turned off when the screen is just black :) would highly recommend buying one, i would buy it again. oh bad thing about it i found is the mac Application is in old rosetta code not new universal.

but, on windows it works perfectly.i never unplug it now

i would say its the 2nd best purchase i have ever made after my 30" samsung monitor :)

So does it not depend on the quality of the monitor to begin with?
Could you not just adjust the levels manually?

That's a bold statement, coming from the man with some awesome gear! Must be worth the cash then.

well, firstly i did adjust the levels manually in nvidia on windows & i was way off what it should have been. our eyes deceive us.

Secondly, i did my Macbook Laptop also & saw a massive difference also. i would say the macbook screen is of good quality but not great. so i would say it can help on any screen but would make a bigger difference on a higher quality screen

If you're running high quality displays then you need to calibrate using a proper calibration device - the difference between manually tweaking and properly calibrating is huge especially if you're buying such displays because you're actually getting what you paid for instead of just 75% :)

Lacie BlueEyePro is the way.

I see, well I'll see how far the rabbit hole goes with this hole photography malark goes! I'm currently really enjoying it so may well end up looking at proper monitors and something to calibrate them with! :)

Looks very nice although doesnt the braiding of each wire just take up more space and spoil the airflow?

That's a Corsair Obsidian, there IS NO airflow! :p

Generally, people braid because it looks good, no matter how well concealed it is, when you braid something you are effectively adding to the girth. ;)

I really need to get myself some watercooling for my graphics, they are becoming toasty.

smogsy

foam pads look the part, but I think you'll find they kill the speakers, making them sound dull and boomy, as they remove the dynamic range that a firm base provides. Don't mistake what you hear for "awsome base line" it's not the same thing

Have to disagree re the braiding point. in general brading wires into groups together reduces their overall cross sectional area, and thus increases the airflow co-efficient. I agree that whe taken to the extreme as in this case however that the effect is somewhat diminished.

Think about it, cable braiding used to come in any colour you wanted, so long as it was black. It wasn't there to look good, it was there for a reason.

I do agree however that braided cables are a thng of beauty when done right
