Destiny 2... It's a coming!

I hope they seriously rework the in game chat.... they wont, but i still hope.

We plan on finishing leviathan tonight if anyone would like to come along. 3 of us atm starting at about 7pm need to do gaunlet and calus.

That was good, to be honest. Remember the dark days of having to go to the tower, dump your gear in the vault, switch to your Alt, go to the tower, pick up the gear and then FINALLY going back to Orbit to do a mission. Those were dark days.

It still is unless you use their app or website?

This is a console game released on PC with almost no changes.
It's great for all the pc pad players though, this game feels so smooth out the box on pad.

Not like most pc games when you plug in the pad and a light touch on the stick results in the crosshair instantly jumping 4 inches across the screen.

The controller support is spot on. Identical to how I remember D1 feeling on ps4. I know it's probably easier on kb/m but this works so well that I'm fine playing on the sofa via the tv. It's a pretty casual pve game anyway for the most part. Not tried PvP yet but I expect I'd get destroyed :D

Yeah I was well surprised how smooth it was on pad, must be the first game on pc I ever got on and actually turned sensitivity up a notch.

Never played destiny 1 but this game is bringing back a lot of halo memories for me.

So just been having a discussion with a friend. I'm a D1Y1 player so I've based my opinion on my playtime where as he has just got D2.

Do you think the raids should have some form of matchmaking? I think the game needs an inbuilt LFG (social space or something) but he thinks raids would be fine if set up with matchmaking. I really disagree as even AFKers in strikes are annoying let alone content like raids which are communication heavy.

D1Y1 player here as well,

Personally I think the raid should have an easy version that doesn't give raid specific gear, emblems etc.

This would allow casuals to play the content (that they've paid for) and then give them experience if they want to try normal or prestige modes.

The easy mode could have matchmaking but the other versions do not.

The problem is that no one seems to want to take a new players through as it's so hard - this is understandable as they don't want to be raiding for hours or not completing it at all. I think bungie have always underestimated the amount of solo players tbh.

Everyone should check Destiny Item Manager - DIM if you are not aware of it, it's a Chrome extension, it makes managing your whole collection of weapons super simple, it can equip highest Power Level of gear/weapons for you for each of the characters, you can create custom loadouts and then with one click you can transfer a collection of weapons between characters on the fly.

It just saves a ton of time and I can't imagine myself playing the game without it. There are many mobile apps available to do the same but this Chrome extension beats all of them easily.

Well it will have guided games soon but tbh, at this early stage, a matchmaking raid sounds like a nightmare. It does require quite a bit of coordination and 1 person not paying attention can and will wipe you. As you have said, even trying to get someone who isn't useless in strike match making is a challenge.

An ingame LFG chat could be good, gives you a chance to ask about experience/make sure they know what they are doing...etc...

The issue would then be no one willing to take a raid virgin on their team though?

There was a article about guided games. Apparently it has been a flop with no one completing the raid.

Guess everyone has the WoW raid mentality of wing it and go HAM with their DEEEEEEEPS. No one seem to read up on tactics or bother listening to raid leaders.

We are finishing off Calus tonight hopefully. We have 5 friends and 1 random. All fights have taken some wiping to refine our skills. Please Gardens was the hardest by far. This is for a group of friends who have played together for most our computing lives, done most WoW raid together and even heroics.

PUGs in this game would be horrific... at least to start.

I disagree with the whole 'well they have paid for it they should be able to access it'. They can access it, just learn the tactics and how to play. Bored of games being made for the lowest denominator. If you suck at a game tough ****. Get better or miss out on content.

It works both ways, you have players expecting to be carried/players who don't know content.

I think it's far better to have an upfront discussion about it, I have had zero issues taking new players through content in the past in any game - we all start somewhere, but it's important to know what you are dealing with/do they have time for a full run/do they have voice comms/will they quit and whine if it doesn't go to plan after 3 wipes....etc... We did a raid on saturday, we were very clear about what our position was (we wanted to go in blind) we had 2 fantastic guys from ocuk with us who knew parts of it and after a few give it a go attempts, they provided an outline - it was a great laugh and I think we all had fun.

This raid is far from an idiot tank and spank, it's quite difficult and requires everyone to contribute (I think it's fantastic) but you NEED to be going in with like minded people and if you are wanting/joining an established team for the raid then you need to take some responsibility and learn some of the basic mechanics.

Not all. I used to love taking newbies through raids as you can hear the excitement in their voices when they do something for the first time. I'm quiet patient with raiding as long as people are trying, doing what their role is and if they get stuck and ask for help, I have no issues with that what so ever.

And all of that is exactly what I was trying to stress. The raids aren't just run forwards and shoot. You need lots of communication and even just 1 person not participating can make it really difficult.

He said it wouldn't put people of trying again and I disagree. If you spent 4 hours on a bit of content and it's getting ruined by people dropping in and out, afkers, or people jumping in when they have hardly any time. It's going to ruin the experience. Told him to tell me his opinion after a few raid runs.

I'm enjoying this game for the odd blast and some loot fun but the areas I've been to are just so lifeless.

Beautiful graphics but no life. Adding neutral creatures or NPCs would at least make the place seem a bit more interesting. I appreciate its not an MMO but it definitely lacks something.
