I'm considering doing VoG normal double run tonight instead of CE, if I can't get one of mine to 30 in time.
Guess we will find out in an hour or so what the vendor gear is like, will probably nip home at lunch and see what's going on
Going to be really hard to not watch twitch streams at work.....
Was discussing with poly last night, it might not really matter that you don't make 30. Get a new exotic armour and jump to 31 might be the case!
Well 29 is 20% less damage right? If, for argument's sake, the damage window on the templar is 8 seconds, and busting out of the containment field takes 4 second at 30, and 5 seconds at 29...it's actually a much larger overall reduction in damage output (I can't be arsed doing the maths). Templar must be the worst for it, at least on Atheon etc you just have the 20% reduction.
If the new legendaries still need Ascendants, I will definitely be doing VoG this week. It's just the new raid gear that needs the radiant materials I think?

Yup legendaries still need a plethora of ascendant materials & farmed materials.
Honestly I would try to hit 30/31 with the new raid gear / VG gear / Re-rolled exotic and then hit the VoG on hard again.
The new VG gear mixed with a single re-rolled exotic will guarantee level 30 (and 31) whereas running the VoG will not.
I still up for it, if I need to do some additional content to unlock the raid then I will put myself down as playing a hunter, leaving the second warlock slot for ps3ud0(which i'm sure is the class he would prefer to play
).

I wouldn't want to go in with a 29, first bit seems to be you all being attacked by l30 thralls while getting hit by a stacking debuff that slows you down. Strength gear may be useful!

33 % less damage for 1 rank below.
You can still do it with 29s. You just need to be give them more of a chance. Block one or two of the templars teleports and his shield will stay down for longer, giving you more chance to get some damage on him.
Also it helps to have a relic holder with max intellect, and is not afraid to go aggressive and hunt the harpies. I managed just fine the other week as a level 29 relic holder. You can still one shot the harpies.
All 29s is a bit of a hard ask, but 3 level 29s shouldn't be a problem.

Awesome!There's people posting on the Bungie forums saying they're at the final boss. No idea how legit they are though.
Nipped home on lunch, got mah boots. Handed in a few bounties to get my light level back up where it was, just a few more later and I'll hit 30 in time for sure.
My legendary engram turned into a Swarm, boo. Nice to see that daily public event reward is back as ascendants though.
