*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Just a question. My friend and I have only just started playing Destiny on PS4, only level 12 at the moment. When we get to 30+, are there still people doing the older raids (Vault of Glass?), and do we need to do them to get the gear for the newer ones?
Thanks!
There are still people doing the older raids, but you don't specifically need the gear from VoG to do the newer stuff. The VoG armour caps out at level 30, so you can easily buy better armour from the various vendors in the tower. What you do want to try to get are the weapons. Even though they're only 300 attack, weapons like Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence and Corrective Measure are still some of the best weapons in the game. They're definitely worth doing VoG for.

Edit: You could do the VoG on normal level around level 25 quite easily, especially if you have some experienced friends to carry you through (I've carried a level 23 through it before). Crota's End can be attempted at level 27, and again you could easily be taken through that. Numerous people (myself being one of them) can solo the entire Crota raid, so that's a good one to do if you're happy to be dragged through it :)

i am currently doing VOG 2 times a week same with crota. not for the armour but for the weapons.

i had a found verdict but i accidentally sharded it months ago and never got another.

the other weapon i need is hunger of crota which supposedly i have a better chance of getting if i run normal mode over hard.

can anyone confirm does HOC drop on hard mode?

if not then i'll switch to normal mode on crota from now on.

Only drops on normal at Crota CP

Cheers dude, I'll check back when I get closer to the required level for raids. Hopefully someone will be able to help us!

All special and heavy weapons only drop on CE NM. It is odd as VoG HM gave you potential drops from both NM & HM.

Short answer: Yes and No :]

All the gear you get from the raids are a lower rank to the current stuff, but can be 'ascended' to current level, its mostly cosmetic difference. Same goes for the weapons, people are still running VoG/Crota for certain weapon that only drop there (or don't drop in my case). So you don't have to worry on that front.

http://lfg.planetdestiny.com is your easiest way to find people to do stuff, outside of here of course.

Hope that helps.
(edit: well late with this, must refresh in future)

There are still people doing them, seemingly more people doing vault of glass that crota. You don't need to do them, it used to be raid armour was the only way to hit max level however that isn't the case any longer. I would say you should do the raids as some of the armour that drops isn't bad (though would need upgrading to etheric light if you want to hit lvl 34) and some of the guns are brilliant.

Edit: Wow I am so slow :(

I'd say to do the VoG simply because the first time you do it will be one of the best experiences you'll have in Destiny, especially if you are left to try to figure things out for yourself as you go along. None of the more recent end game content comes close to VoG IMO.

I think you'll see people return to raiding more once they've got most of their gear upgraded to 365 from running PoE/Trials.

Two judgement's chance packages today, got hunter helm and arms, with decent rolls, finally something good from those packages!

3x34s at last, Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence, Found Verdict upgraded, and spare etheric in the bank. Will save that for the 35 later in case I need anything.

Beats my roll. I got the exact same void HMG I already had with the stupid shank burn perk. It could have least rolled with "deals moderate extra damage to fallen" perk but no.

*grumbles*

On the plus side I got a etheric light from a NF. I now have 3 spare in my vault.

i have about 7 spare etherics.

i am keeping them for a perfect PVP setup and HOC and Found Verdict.

I'll switch to normal mode on crota cp and just run hard mode from start to finish after beating normal on the last checkpoint.

the raids are fun but they are too easy now for 34's. they should have introduced a level 34 VOG mode or something.

i have already used about 10+ etheric lights too so the 7 i have spare are actually spare.

Hunter helm with +124 DIS and increased recovery and super vs Fallen in PoE

Boots with +DIS +STR and agility + grenade boost on vex, not as good, but better than the pure STR stuff!

Hey guys, sorry but I've got some beers on the cards now, been a long week, could do with it :) I'll be online for a bit, but gotta run at about 6:15 and don't wanna have to bail at the end. Got a load of gear to level up so will probably run a NF on my hunter and a few bounties.

1730 GMT PoE 35
1) ?
2) redrooster
3) AStaley

Actually guys, I've got a little more time...if we can start at 5:15 we should be able to get it done. If I have to leave you won't have any trouble finding someone to take my spot....

*grumble grumble* :mad::p

I might try to roll something else (still have a spare armour core) but, tbh I am happy with the armour setup on my characters as they stand now. I can be 34 with perks I actually want.

Crap, guys I realised just as I shut my ps4 down that I was fire team leader, it didn't boot you did it?

Good to have a crack at skolas properly though, much more fun now. Hope you get him down!
