Hold on a second!!! Did I just get dumped out of tomo nights raid or are we running it twice??

Had about as clutch a moment as you can get on VoG last night. I had stupidly agreed weeks ago to help 4 people at work through their 1st raid - only 1 of them is any good.
After 7-8 failed attempts at Atheon, we managed to get 3 portal runs without them messing up. there was only 5 of us and 2 of them were dying constantly and had blue weapons.
Atheon was going down on the 3rd so I told everyone to keep firing. Well the times vengeance ran out and 1 died but Atheon's health bar all but was gone.
I was the only 1 left outside the vortex and had little ammo. I managed to kill a harpy, who dropped a rocket pickup just as it came up the 3 in the portal had died.
I sprinted to the ammo, reloaded as it said 'you have succumb to the oracles' and Atheon was not in view so I had to double jump into the pit, killing myself bu managed to squeeze out a Ghally shot aiming down sights for tracking.
I was very happy when it then came up 'mission complete' then just sat there stuck as we were all dead!
So basically a last man standing post-mortem kill on the guy.
I've pretty much stopped playing the game so didn't want to do it but seems like a fitting way to end the VoG for good.
Man they sucked - I was holding back trying to let them learn it but in the end just solo'd it as we were going to be on all night. Wish I'd recorded that like.

2 NF's, 2 34's and a 32 smashed last night with Mid & Mach. The Valus NF almost felt like some kind of satire of itself. Stupidly easy with solar burn. Valus himself dropped in around 8-10 G'horn rockets (not sure exactly how many as he dropped so quickly).
Best part about it all was the elder cypher dropped for me on the first 34 run. Completed the first step on the 32 run straight after. Now I just have to wait for Variks to do something before carrying on...

I'm happy to drop in and out as needed, maybe do a Crota normal run first as that's what Mr Gimp needs then take it from there.

Yeah the NF was quite fun
I've got another 34 and 32 to run, and unusually have a few hours this evening as well from around 8pm if Variks has done his bit and you can start the next part.
Otherwise, I wouldn't doing a blast through Crota HM and a triple crota kill....still don't have WoC which would be nice for void burn!
I'm not sure tbh. I've double booked dinners and not sure what time either of them are!

So I hit level 20 last night and finished the main story missions for the original game. What should I be doing next to get my level up to a raid appropriate level? Are there any guides anywhere for this? Also, I have both of the expansion packs. Is there anything story related in those I should do?

If all goes to plan I should be home about 6ish but my journey home involves a taxi, plane, bus, train and a drive so plenty of chances to get delayed so don't want to say definitively.
Choices choices, I usually always run my hunter for the abyss as it makes it easy or sunslinger for the res but bad juju, obsidian mind and voidwalker combo could be fun especially with two of us doing it. Should be plenty of orbs for everyone.
If we are running through the Abyss I will just run everything on Pigtails. Switching only at Crota.
EDIT: Bad Juju + Obsidian mind + voidwalker = Nova bomb heaven...
