*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

I took a look for Golgoroth as well and we had the right strategy except 2 minor alterations:

1: 2 dedicated gaze runners as we already had, the 2nd runner who doesn't have his gaze should clear adds and let the 4 guys in the puddle go for pure DPS. As long as he is constantly being hit, his back will stay exposed. As long as the gaze is constantly being passed in a timely manner, constant DPS on stomach and the other gaze runner is clearing adds. It looks like a straight forward fight.

2: Just my own observation really going off hindsight but we should really be using machine guns/sniper rifles to dps him. My machine gun is only 280 but I get the feeling it will do a hell of a lot more damage than my rocket launcher.

He's a real bullet sponge, 13 million health or something like that. He does have an enrage timer as well, if the 2nd gaze runner gets time after clearing adds to do some dps before moving around to take his gaze that also seems to help.

Did some more research and
You only need one gaze runner. Once the adds are cleared everyone else goes down below and the runner works his way around the orbs.

There's an excellent video of the strat on youtube by MajinTaj. I can't link to it as I'm at work but it looks nice and easy.

We killed him on our first attempt yesterday. Fight is extremely easy with this strat:

1. Spread out evenly across the first floor of the arena and clear trash until no more spawn;
2. Two gaze runners. One to enable DPS and the other to retain the gaze. The DPS runner stands on the south west corner of the arena, directly in front of the left centre orb. Second runner stands directly opposite the DPS runner, in the north east corner of the arena;
3. Runner in the north east corner grabs the gaze. 4 other members drop down into the left pit cave and start to shoot the left centre orb. NE runner calls when 5 seconds left of gaze. DPS runner grabs the gaze;
4. Team below stands in the orb circle and commences DPS. Ensure all members are using high impact weapons, ideally with nightstalker tethers and WoL if possible to increase DPS;
5. NE runner grabs the gaze with 5 seconds left. Team below moves to the left and starts to shoot the orb to the left of the left centre orb;
6. DPS runner grabs the gaze back;
7. Rinse and repeat 3 times using all the orbs on the left. Lose the gaze. Everyone moves up top and clears the next wave of trash. Then complete steps 2-7 again.

The key is to ensure the DPS and non-DPS runner are calling out with 5 seconds left. Also, the DPS runner needs to stand directly in front of the orb even when he has the gaze, therefore the team below have full visibility of the boss' chest. Easier if a nightstalker hunter does this job as they can shadestep to avoid the neesons.

Easy :)

Me and Corey have been watching that video this morning, maybe I'm wrong but:

There are 2 gaze runners in that video, 1 on support/dps and 3 dedicated entirely to dps. The 2 gaze runners stand opposite eachother, when 1 has the gaze the other is breaking the bubble so that when one bubble burn ends the other one is ready to go. The support role clears the adds on the ground and then starts to dps when it's clear.

This is what you watched right?

Yeah, but I had the sound down because I'm in work so have missed the other guy.

I got the Kingslayer Shell and I believe someone else did, I think one or two got Defiance of Yasmin as well (the sniper). Pretty happy with the shell, looks really nice. We're currently at Golgoroth, we had the right strat but everybody was very tired at that point. Should be able to drop him when everybody is fresh again.

Yep, I got the shell and the rocket launcher, 306 void.

Anyone fancy an Xbox one TTK raid on Friday? More chance of finishing it as everyone will be able to play until the early hours.

Having done most sections of the raid now I can safely say people will struggle to get it done during the week with work commitments etc. :p

I'd be up for giving it a go, if I can get my lvl up in time. Might also have someone else who could run it as well, if he's not working a stupid shift pattern.

I've not watched anything butttt....

I think we did okay, but had 2 major issue.

1) People died far too often, this was mostly due too not being behind cover while clearing out the crap that spawns. If all hide behind over and just take it slowly that part should go well.

2) When where down doing DPS we need to keep and eye on the cursed thralls.

I think what we should do is firstly clear everything out without dying, everyone stay behind cover and never leave it, I think me and Corey was doing this well, but it should be 3 on each side just too make sure it doesn't get overwhelming.

Once there all clear 4 drop down and the 2 that will get the gaze stay up. We should not do the whole run around and make it spin. Instead just go to the front but facing a side right/left and get his attention and kill all the bombs. The other gaze runner will get the buff ready for us, the 4 moves too the new buff while they take the gaze. Rinse and repeat.

While where down, we will have 3 full DPS, 1 split DPS/thrall duty. Rolls should just be decided on pure DPS for now. maybe best to have warlocks run gaze since they can self res.

Just my 2cents, I've not seen the videos so feel free to let me know what I don't know.

Your strategy is pretty much what has already been said, so it seems like everybody has the same idea. I think a lot of the problems last night at this stage such as people dying, poor communication on passing the gaze and not focusing enough on DPS for Golgoroth was down to one thing.. people were tired. Everybody is different I guess but I know I play considerably worse when I'm tired. I don't expect any of those things to be an issue on Thursday.

Yup, I think it went really good tbh, for a first bash at things. We only spent like 2hours~ and a decent amount was just on the ships. I feel confident that we will get things done on Thursday. I also have Friday off so I can stay up as late as needed, don't expect anyone else too be the same though.

Does this suit everyone else?

Good news is that Moody is now 292. :D
