*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Finally did the challenge, got into few fail groups today but then finally it all happened, even though we had one kid that was kinda screwing and messing things up and even after the 3rd rotation when one ogre teleported far away from all other bombs (we had an extra person to run to detonate it) we detonated all 16 bombs :) It kinda looked like we were not going to make it but it worked.

Guess it's time to take a break again :)
 
Does anyone know what happens now with the next challenge rotations? Do you think they will drop 320s, minus the fragment and emblems, or drop nothing at all if you have completed it on prior weeks?
 
Good run last night, glad we got the oryx challenge out the way first. Easier than the regular method imo, down second run after the first go we had ogres teleporting.

The networking seems really shafted at the moment, the timing on the totems is totally screwed...we weren't just being crap :)

I have all 320 now apart from 319 special, 318 gloves, 319 ghost and 316 class item. Unless next challenges are dropping guaranteed 320 ghost and mark (or just enabling all challenges next week) that's probably me done until the next content arrives.

I've never known it so bad. Warpriest was even worse for us, I spent almost 2 hours with an LFG group trying to work through the bugs. It was taking almost 5 seconds for the plates to light up once you were stood on them. We gave up in the end!
 
Had loads of problems on the totems, auras not being transferred, timing was totally out, normally as the aura runs out the knights appear bang on time, kill it, then move to center. It was all over the shop, had to carefully watch to make sure everything was transferring correctly, knights appearing early, knights appearing late.

Sounds like we were lucky having only one problem on Oryx. I was scoped in on the 4th ogre about to finish him off and it just disappeared...looked around and he was on the walkway in the middle, wasn't just me that saw it!
 
ok i have spent a total of 2 hours on the oryx fight and each its come to an end due to glitching laggy bull....... set of all 16 bombs and watch his health disable only for it to regain all of it when he pops up at the bottom. Bungo have really messed this up :(

We had this a lot too, but we got there in the end through perseverance. However, two big tips I was reading on Reddit today...

(1) The theory that using continuous high impact snipers to stagger the Ogres should in theory stop the teleport

(2) The other theory is, the amount of engrams, ammo and other guff across the floor somehow lags the game and causes the teleportation.

I'm not too convinced on the latter, but can certainly confirm the former had a noticeable difference and is how we ultimately completed it. For the two runs I've had this week, the Ogres only teleported on the 4th round, so perhaps there may be some credibility in the latter theory.
 
Staggering definitely help...they will never move while they are in the stagger animation. I can't help but think that it's simply the pathfinding algorithms having a spaz because there are 3 overlapping colliders already occupying the same space when the ogre spawns in.

Besides that though, I've never seen the game so weird and glitchy as last night. Something is definitely up.
 
Teleporting ogres are OP! We had one during final stage, fortunately everyone was able to communicate well enough that nobody set it off and the 5th titan stood in it when we all entered ours :)

I went in an LFG and during the final stage, detonating all bombs we did 0% damage... Because relic runner was watching kill feed and not shooting Oryx in the chest! :eek:

Slightly gutted only got 1 * 320 primary and my other alts got 320 helmets which I have a vault full of thanks to SRL!

There has been a lot of reports of raid bugs since the 2.1 patch. I believe part of the patch which is not in the notes was fixing a glitch where if you detonated all 16 bombs it would crash the game (Some sort of error being raising that wasn't caught **** knows). As normally fixing 1 bug leads too a lot of others I guess and it could be part of the reason. I also think there might be sync issues Destiny as a whole has been super laggy, too a point where on Tuesday a friend rage quit cause he couldn't join a NF even thought his internet was perfect. My experience is Crucible has been painful too the point that I no longer want too play.
 
The whole sixteen bombs thing was a bit of a mistake imo. Adding a bunch of overlapping meshes/colliders is a recipe for weird behaviour. Not sure what pathfinding they use, but it's probably a case of the avoidance steering behaviour being excessively magnified by the stack of bombs, particularly as they spawn right on top of them. If not it's the basic 'oh **** I'm embedded in the environment, make me move to a valid spot' type code.

Think I would have preferred it if they just required different runners, would have been a decent challenge, less chance of screwing it up (on their part).

But as you said, the whole game seems broken since 2.1. SRL was fine for me before, now if you don't get ahead of the pack at the start you're screwed as everyone just glitches all over the place.

The totems were ridiculous, timing was a total mess. The whole client sync seems to be shot to bits.
 
well managed to get challenge mode done last night. After what seemed like a perfect run one bomb didn't detonate. :( Got a 320 harrowed pulse rifle with firefly and a 314 harrowed helmet for my titan. I need some chest armour for my titan currently at 310, currently at 316 and so close to 317 its just not fair.

I actually think that this challenge mode strat may actually be the way to go with the oryx fight as it takes away the ac130 bombing runs and as long as nothing "funky" happens and everyone helps with Knights/ vessel you should be able to survive.

We found that having 3 titan bubbles helped (as I was running relic and didn't need my super) I would pop a blessing bubble first in the middle then run to oryx platform. The weapons titan would pop their bubble post oryx slamming and then during ogres 3/4 the second titan blessing bubble would be popped to save the platform runners when I dropped with the relic and while I chased the vessel down with my sword.
 
I find a single blessing bubble lasts pretty much exactly as long as the point from which Oryx slams to start the phase, to the point he slams again before opening his chest. Perfect for the Titans in the middle, to give the relic runner an over shield if they have to jump from the far side, and give the platform holders protection in the middle once the relic runner gets the brand.

there are options within the subclass that extend the duration of the bubble and give more benefit to anyone to jumps inside them, etc.

so if people don't have all the right options ticked then it won't last as long or give as much benefit.

you can set a titan up to be a orb machine at the cost of the above.

If you need 1 more Im available and have the Oryx Checkpoint on two characters. So maybe we can do Oryx first and run the raid after if required.
