Not sure that hub has a bearing?
I'll ask tomo when I collect my handbrake shoes and Fitting kit.
Not sure that hub has a bearing?
25 fitted+balanced per tyre at scrappy.
What maniac buys tyres from a scrap yard?![]()
Always buy good tyres unless you're seriously struggling financially.
Page didn't load correctly first time (I only saw the 2nd link correctly, thought you wanted to buy a hub+bearing kit), you most likely don't need a new hub, just the bearing.
Tbh all I care about is that they're legal and driving as cheap as possible...
Ahh yes, I forget. If you do something dangerous and it doesn't kill you, that means it isn't dangerous at all!![]()
My mistake.
Fair enough, then get a 2nd or 3rd opinion elsewhere.
Garages prey on people who have no idea about mechanics. Most garages/mehcanics are absolute scum, scamming people who don't know about their cars for repairs they don't need, or worse charging them for work that never happened (as wasn't needed).
You should also ask your indy garage to SHOW you the problems.
It took me more than 10 garages until I gave up on them altogether, I just do all the work myself now, get my MOT at neutural garages (ones that only do MOT's and no repairs, so they aren't unfair by lying something needs to be done as it's not in their interest), and I have a mechanic friend to help me for more complex stuff (eg. gearbox replacement, timing belt, get the head off). Any random garage around here is trying to shaft you, one actually told me to replace my brake discs when they were only 6 months old while I came in just to get alignment done.
So you don't care about your safety, the safety of your passengers, or the safety of other road users?
OK. Takes all sorts.
Anyway, driving a car with a bent rear sub frame which causes it to eat tyres?
...
No comment at all on that one... Probably best.
Good news, saves £40!
Just gonna throw this out there, maybe public transport is a better option for you?
I can't see it being any fun running a car on such a shoestring budget? Or maybe downgrade to something like a Fiesta or a Toyota of some sort?
There was no sarcasm? Genuine surprise at having to replace whole hub...
This is quite common on the non-driven wheels of many modern cars i.e. rears on a FWD car, and fronts on a RWD car.
Gosh, really? Even so, eurocarparts has hubs for as low as £40, most expensive is £62. That's a huge labour cost assuming they source similarly priced parts.
Easyrider it's time to put the Internet down for a bit
I just bought a 320d for £1500, great car.
