This is the sort of game where you have to learn a bosses weakness before you can beat it. Dante you can beat using devil trigger and learning to dodge his sword slashes. I also found the air slash down attack good (split i believe its called)

Ive tried most of those combos but he still manages to get me....before i can dodge his attacks.

Anyways deleted all the game saves...like i said before i lose interest in a game extremely quickly if it becomes near impossible and i wont touch it again. I dont think in the past 2 yrs ive come across a game thats really really annoyed me as much as this game has...ive never found a game near impossible to finish but DMC4 takes the proverbial urine. But im glad i picked it up for £20 rather than £40 as it was when it first released...so havent lose too much on it but ill just trade it in tommorrow for something else.

Although saying all the above...the only redeeming quality about the game is the gfx...and especially Gloria...mmmmm yummy now thats some fine pixellated ass there:p.

Why not just use a gold face thingy? When you die, you come back with full health with him still on his original health.

I completed this on Human, it was easy so going to do it on the harder mode now. I enjoyed it a fair bit although there was quite a few points of just running throgh levels I had already done which was pretty boring.
 
There is a cheap way of beating Dante. Jump up on the raised area in the middle, keep standing on the edge nearest Dante and when he jumps up buster him, and you'll "Slam Dunk!" him back down.. you can keep doing this once you've got the timing right. It's kinda lame and gets you bugger all style points but it's better than giving up on the game right? :p

I've read that many times but it would not work at all for me. Were you playing 360 version? I just assumed they might have patched it to fix that.

Which ive tried numerous times last night and still no luck. Anyways traded it in for the same price i picked it up today so no big loss. Dont get me wrong i liked the game but it just got too fustrating for me to continue on trying to beat Dante. Hes a big step up from the previous boss's that i had absolutely no problem beating...

Hehe i tried that method but it didnt really work as when he came up he would slice me with his sword...i didnt have a look at quite a few online guides and tried their strategies but couldnt finish him off.
 
Woah this a freaking amazing game. It's refreshing not being able to jump in and know everything straight away. I'm sure most people who have binned it didn't take the time to learn combos etc.

Is there anyone on here with a 1000 penis points yet, as that would require some skill.
 
What happened? I'm now playing at Dante and have to use this stupid melee style (Gilgamesh). Is there any way i can use the sword again?

You gave up on Dante playing on the easiest game mode. He aitn that hard dude. Just go in all guns blazing. Let him attack you, dodge him and attack. If you go in doing moves like forward plus Y (cant remember the name) he WILL own you.
