Dexter

Why did they stop such an interesting idea as Dexter going full evil, so quickly?

I thought they were going to run with it for a least a few episodes, it seemed like a great idea.

I would assume that it would be down to the fact that if Dexter were to abandon his moral code altogether, then the show would be off air faster than you can say "promotes violence". A line that it very carefully treads with the whole premise that though a killer, he is really one of the 'good guys'.

Sheesh, if Americans got rid of all the programmes that promoted violence, they'd have nothing left! :p

I get your point though, Dexter is essentially an ode to the death sentence, but it's still a shame. I like the show, but it's starting to feel quite samey now, and even though it wouldn't have gone anywhere in the end, it was good to see some kind of change. It does mean Mos Def pretty much died in vain though. :(

I'd like Dexter to come to an end as I don't want to end up not liking it any more. It's still great but it's starting to lose it's excellence. I feel the way Harry is in the show now it's too much, he's encroaching into the real world stupidly.

At least with Breaking Bad I never know how long Walt and Jesse can keep getting away with what they do (and they're not going to forever as those who watch it will know), but with Dexter I just know he'll walk away smelling of roses every season.

+1

If I knew Dexter was going to conclude at the end of this season, I'd be delighted, as long as it concluded it satisfactorily. As it is I can just see it being something they string out for too long and will lose a lot of viewers in the 7th or 8th seasons if it gets there.

Starting to heat up a bit now! Very exciting :D

Really liked this season, its been much better than 5 and 3 in my opinion. I think its on level par with 2 at the moment.

Actors need to stop being so greedy, the show only pulls 2.2 million viewers according to that article, how can he expect to be paid so much.

Compared to some youtube partners that are getting like 5-7 million views per week and their videos are very cheap to make and only take a day to film. Its no wonder shows are getting cancelled left, right and centre.

You need to consider how much the actor gets paid as a percentage of what the network makes on the show, not look at it in absolute values. How much does one of those youtube video make for Google?

If the network makes £100s of millions in ad revenue and DVD sales then £24m per season doesn't sound greedy at all.

p.s. This week's ep was much worse than par for this season, I thought Dexter was being very sloppy at the end, not like him at all.

Dexter is the only TV series that has kept me intrigued from season 1 to season 6.

There has been a few TV series that had had me on the edge of my seat, however the finale's were disappointing. Prison Break, Sopranos and Lost.

Sopranos finale seemed disappointing because there was no closure, it kinda left you hanging a bit but thats one of the good things about it, how do you finish an epic story like that, happy ending? sad ending? what would even make a happy or a sad ending in show like that? like this its kind of happy family setting and you see the guy walking in..leaves you guessing!

it took me a while to kind of process that as i also at the end of season 6 was like

WTF!?!?! :D

Lost ending was a complete pile of crap though lol!

I can;t help but want Deb to find out about Dexter.
I also kinda feel a little let down by the fact that Deb's ex (cant remember his name of the top off my head - the good looking young detective) kinda just let his gut feel about Dexter go.

All in all, really good season this one, loving it

Still loving season six, but felt Dexter has been a little bit, not himself? recently.

Loved Mos D's character though, the idea of Dexter properly losing it was great and would have made an epic end to the season, him going on a rampage after the killers in this.

i thought at the end of sopranos season 6. something was going to kick off at the restaurant. like Tony's daughter gets kidnapped or shot dead.

that whole dream incident, when the big man got shot was ridiculous.

Hmm with a bit of rechecking back over the episodes it now does make more sense, I just wasnt paying enough attention lol.
