Di Matteo sacked

Wins cl but is unlikely to be in the knockout round this season. Its not as if rdm built this team or has real sentiment towards it. He took over for half a season and did well. Above expectation.

Arguably fergie should have been sacked last season for worse tbh. But they must have given him the benefit of the doubt due to long term perseverance as I can't see any other reason they would have kept him on after that.

Lets not forget what a massive fluke the CL was in the quarter/semi/final and he did worse in the league than AVB. It is horrible he is sacked, but was obvious he should never be hired in the first place.

I did mean to put end of September that is my fault. Also dont think for a second that only Liverpool have had decisions go against them, that happens to everyone.

The thing is people are slating AVB. yet Rogers is just said to "need time" that is the real issue. I want consistency, but the media have an issue with AVB and thats that.

Just heard on the news that Chelsea will be announcing the name of the replacement Before the next game.

The sacking won't do RDM any harm at all. He won the FA Club and Champion's League first time asking! lol I doubt he will be bothered one bit, with a big pay off to boot.

Chelsea - A Club to go to work for if you want to get a quick pay off.

We have had some big ones go against us, and many blogs that are supposedly impartial have shown decisions going for and against that we were on the thick end of it for a fair few games there.

I'm not slating AVB, I still don't think he should have been sacked from Chelsea and is really the only thing I like about Spurs. The media hates foreign managers, get used to it, everyone jumps on the bandwagon as well.

Still to be humiliated at the club you love and are a legend after you should never have gotten a contract must be pretty galling. Then again I don't know if he cares much, has that smug little **** grin on his face all the time.

Liverpool fans around the world will not know how to feel if Benitez does go there, it'll be like he's ripped out their still beating hearts and handed them a Chelsea shirt to stem the blood loss. :p

Don't want him back at Liverpool, but I'm terrified of him going to Chelsea. Think he'd do a very good job for them.

He'd do considerably better than Di Matteo but there's not a great deal that any manager can do in 6 months.

Until Guardiola's in a job, no manager is going to be given time at Chelsea. RA wants Guardiola and he's made it clear he'll make as many stupid decisions as he needs to take to keep the possibility of Guardiola taking over open.

I'm not surprised by this, who would be.

In all fairness to Abramovich, his methods are extremely harsh, but they have brought a steady measure of success to the club.

He took the decision to axe AVB at a similar sort of time (obvious he had no history like RDM) and that won him the Champion's League and FA Cup - why not try it again?

I've never rated Di Matteo as a manager, I think that for the most part, Drogba carried Chelsea to a hugely fortuitous Champion's League victory. Outside of that I don't think RDM is anything special at all. I also don't think much to him as a person, either, so not having to see him much any longer will be a bonus, he seems a bit of a tool.

Abramovich seemed reluctant to give him the job too, so I didn't think it would take much for him to go.

The press seem to think it could be Benitez in a caretaker role, as Baz mentioned, but they said they wanted to announce it this afternoon so it must be at a fairly advanced stage, and he's abroad until tomorrow. Whether he'd be the right (or even a good) choice, I have no idea.

Perhaps Abramovich has a pre-agreement in place with Guardiola and will pay an outrageous fee to persuade him.

Ballague saying he is still in Abu Dhabi and hasn't been contacted, seriously hope he is right.

Rory Smith reckons there has been contact and Benitez came out with something about not knowing who his agent has been talking to over the last couple of days.

He did a great job at the last transitioning CL winning team he inherited.

Yeah, getting them back there 2 years later was unbelievable considering the funds and where he got us to in his penultimate season. Pity off field matters took too much off his attention in his last one.
