Di Matteo sacked

Tonights lottery numbers are...! Not hard to predict though was it.

Well to be fair, it was going to either RDM or Hughes....i had my money on Hughes going first though. Didnt think RDM would have been sacked so soon but looking at their result from last night, i guess that was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.

Reckon Hughes will be the next to go...its only a matter of time.

I do not understand.....are you implying that Spurs are not classy? As frankly that is laughable. Granted we are no saints but we are not Chelsea, Utd, City, Liverpool or Arsenal....

Sorry, I should be clearer. I was more pointing out that Spurs only recently sacked a manager completely unnecessarily so not sure you can laugh at Chelsea.

Edit: as Tom pointed out.

Life’s a bitch and you could see this looming. Yes he's a legend but there's been nothing legendary since winning the champions league. I'm sorry for him but the defence problem and formation have not been resolved.

LOL how can you even say that? He's only had about 6 months in charge (less if you consider the summer break) not 6 seasons.

Shocking news and treatment tbh. Who would seriously want that job and why can't these clubs settle for consistency which is just as important than any one player or manager?

It's called 5-20mil a year, depending on the manager, 3 year contracts and being paid 60mil even if you get fired... there is not a manager out there who wouldn't take the job, its not even slightly difficult to see this... why do people keep asking for years why people would take jobs that pay millions, and still pay millions even if you fail?

It is ludicrous. You only have to look at clubs like ourselves and Arsenal to see that consistency pays (provided you don't let managers outstay their welcome). Even City to an extent have stuck by Mancini when there are numerous instances where he could have been sacked and it paid off for them last year.

There are dozens of clubs that stuck with a manager who have done badly as well, Fergie and Wenger are the exception, NOT the norm, and Wenger hasn't actually done anything but double our wage bill and win nothing for half of his time at Arsenal.

Sticking by a manager who isn't cutting it, is just as stupid as firing a manager who hasn't been given time.

Lol Chelsea ruining football...

The QPR board need a long hard look at them selves how a team like Chelsea is under-performing in their key competition but still in with a chance to succeed and can still sack someone like Di Matteo when their team currently will be relegated with a new points low sticking by Hughes.

Shocked and amused in equal amounts. Wouldn't be surprised if they get 'Arry in for a few months, sell everyone over christmas, get landed with Ryan Nelson to partner Terry at CB and don't qualify for Europe next season.

Most people thought at the time the Champs league final gave RDM the chance to be the interim manager till Guardiola or someone truly top class was available. They could have let him go end of the season and gotten someone else in as stop gap manager. Of Course, RDM will have made a mint off being the interim manager, aside from the champs league win, no one thought he was anything but the stop gap till they can get someone better.... but now everyone jumps on them as doing something stupid.

Ultimately, they probably do have Guardiola lined up, and its better to get him now rather than potentially have Fergie/Mancini/RDM/Wenger all leaving at the end of the year and having a tougher fight getting the man they want.

But the main thing is, what Chelsea fire a manager for, or UTd, or Spurs, and what QPR or Southampton would fire a manager for are very very different things. Who gets fired at the top end of the table for failing in Europe, has no bearing on who gets fired at the bottom end of the table for relegation, when that manager avoided relegation last year and has yet to fail this year.

Very true, as far as managerial sackings go Levy getting rid of Arry was probably the worst decision since RA got rid of Mourinho :o

How so?

A manager that 2 years on the trot completely imploded when 4th and 3rd where all but home and hosed.
A manager that publicly touted himself for the England job while under contract.
A manager that went behind his chairmen's back talking about club matters/transfers.
A manager that had his favourites and didnt rotate the squad and annoyed players

This is the guy that didnt play our best player because "his head wasnt right"

The Redknapp sacking was just. He couldn't/Wouldn't take Spurs any further, if anything Levy did the right thing 100%. It is so easy for fans looking in to judge, but you didnt have to put up with the fool.

exactly. we had very good reason to boot redknapp, one more solo. how can you say we didn't? how would you feel if you were employing someone who (in a roundabout kind of way) has told you he would take another job.

threw 4th away and signed players over 30 when much needed reinforcements were required last january and had as much tactical guile as your average ps3 fifa player?

can i say it again? HHHHHAAHAHAHAHA you stay classy chelsea. make terry the manager, complete the look.

Chelsea could announce a new manager later on today!! :D

Will be interesting to see who it is, reckon its Benitez...if it is then good luck to him...in fact anyone taking over the Chelsea job, i wish them all the very best of luck as they will need it in massive amounts.

People saying its a crap job...is it? Is it really? If you get a good contract you could be £5million up for 6-12 months worth of work. and people will say "It was only Chelsea it was always a poisoned chalice" With the right mind frame, it would be a brilliant job!

It isnt if your winning everything in sight;). Sure the money is great depending on the contract and the pay off if you dont last but wouldnt want my CV saying sacked from Chelsea:p

Absolutely stupid decision imo

They are still doing well in the EPL, and if it wasnt already the job will be like a poisoned chalise now - even after winning the CL (which was RA's holy grail) RDM has lasted less than 3 months into the new season before being shown the door.

Hint RA - If the CL was that easy, the likes of Wenger would have a few titles and Utd would have more than Liverpool

Even if Pep does agree to step in (which I doubt will be before the summer at the earliest) there is still another temporary manager which will want to be paid off for the interim.

Admittedly they havent done well in the CL group this season, but RDM would still be a better EPL manager than majority you will get to stand in until the full time manager comes in

I can't stand Benitez, I hope it's not him.

The only positive (from my point of view) I can see out of Benitez getting the job is it'll **** you lot off more than us.

To cheer you up a bit more, some reports are claiming a certain Spanish forward might be part of the reason Benitez gets the job.

I wont argue the above so that may be true but look where you are now compared to where you were under Redknapp....

Spurs have gone from being a comfortable top 5 (pushing 3rd) team playing nice attractive attacking football to being nothing more than a top 7 team (at best), playing boring football, loosing games all over the place and the games they are winning is through the skin of their teeth.

Even with the departure of Modric under Arry I would wager Spurs would still be at least on a par with Arsenal, under AVB though Arsenal now look comfortably the better side and even Everton and Liverpool look like they've overtaken them.
