** Diablo 4 Thread **

Can't wait till the next update: I got disconnected from the server and now I'm level 1
Lol, next update is Act 4 complete, tbh HC Diablo4 feels much easier than previous Diablos, I wouldnt have gotten as far as this, as quickly as this, on hardcore before in Diablo. Really since lvl 30 I havent come close to dying on T2 hardcore with any of my characters, with the various bubbles, scrolls of escape and death evasion potions there's a few too many ways to avoid death in HC really.

While I don't have the patience or constitution to play hardcore, I've been playing on the highest available difficulty (WT1?) from the get go and have done so on three different characters now. A level 37 rogue, 24 Druid, and 14 Necromancer, I don't think I've ever come close to dying on any of them.

Diablo 3 was more difficult in some respects, but in what I can only describe as a cheap rock paper scissors sort of way rather than yeeting you for skill issues.

Granted, if I was to make an attempt at hardcore with D4 I'd probably immediately die. lol

Tried Elias for the WT4 at lvl 59 barb. After many attempts and only managed to getting him down to 20% at best.
Is it worth pushing this or just keep on levelling til lvl 70 or high 60s? Pretty much all his skills can one shot me lol

Just learn the fight. You can avoid all of his damage with patience, and go ham when you stagger him. As long as you can burst the mobs down quick enough to avoid getting swarmed, it’s manageable.

Granted that’s hindsight. I tried til repair bills stopped me at 56 58 and 59. It was only 60 when took the time to work out that i could kite everything and choose openings

I changed my build slightly and just went pure DPS and burned him down. Hard fight for a mid level Barb.

This guy has some great tips for WW barbs.

Just wait until post lvl 50. Even in softcore I died only once pre-50 ( to a disconnect travelling the open world ). But once you start going up to WT3/4 there can be some real ******** mechanics/game design eg. certain nightmare affixes, broken resistances, corpse bows one shot killing you from off screen. And then of course, the disconnect/crash deaths ... which I must have had about 6 of since launch.

WT1 is the easiest difficulty. You can't touch WT3 or 4 until you've finished the campaign. The end game doesn't really begin until lvl 50.

Keep on levelling until you're nearer lvl 70. That's what WT4 is designed for ... there is a 25% penalty ( and it increases with lvl ) to damage output/damage received fighting monsters 4 lvls or higher. Even if you beat the capstone dungeon the minimum lvl of all monsters in the open world is 73. You'll just be making your levelling experience more miserable than it has to be.

Yea, thats my concern as well even if I beat it after multiple attempts. Ran out of gold last night anyway so will just keep doing the grind to 70.

Luckily I havent had any crashes or disconnects yet, I'm looking forward to the higher tiers in hardcore though

I went ham on Butcher the other night on WT1 first time seeing him since launch. I went toe to toe against him in Beta and he pretty much nailed me! However this time round, i took him down pretty quickly surprisingly! This was on a Necro skeleton build with Decrepify, corpse explosion and bone spear. I'm worried about WT3 tbh, it seems its gonna be a lot harder and im not sure if my build is upto the task.

WT3 isn't that bad initial depends on when you arrive, <49 and you'll do less damage and take more damage as mobs are minimum level 53.

But once your there and get some sacred gear you'll be just as fast as WT1.

I haven't even started looking at how and where to get sacred and ancestral gear yet, been working on getting to 50 and i haven't even completed the campaign yet. I'm on act 5 now and nearing the end of that. I feel by the end of the campaign i'll be close level 55 which as you mentioned might be a good starting point for WT3.

Is it just a matter of farming, dungeon running once you complete the campaign?

Pretty much yeah, the xp needed per level doubles at 50 so you won't level that much in WT1/WT2, WT3 gives a big xp increase to offset this a bit.

You'll also gain access to a couple end game systems so dungeon grinding won't be your only source of gear.

I noticed Helltides was locked to WT3 and above so thats one thing i will be trying when i finish the campaign. Trying to end the campaign is becoming abit of a grind at the moment lol.

Seems it's WT2/Veteran that I have it on.

I'll get there eventually, I'm enjoying the story but the campaign itself just feels like a slog with going from a to b.

I should probably power through and get my mount.

Not true. If you beat the mobs in the capstone you can beat them in Wt4. The 200% xp boost is absolutely worth it.
Very build/class dependent. Sure, you'll get more XP by virtue of being on WT4 and fighting higher level monsters, but be prepared for lots of one shot deaths etc until level and gear is upgraded.

Up to WT3 now. Going to start maxing renown while looking for altars. Found a treasure goblin which dropped a Staff of Endless Rage. 327 extra damage but all fire sorc affixes and I'm full ice. Got to use it for the damage but so disappointing it doesn't fit my spec and you can't swap any affixes or aspects.
