** Diablo 4 Thread **

What's the consensus on gems? I don't feel like I have a lot of choice. I've been putting ruby's in armour, skulls in jewellery and topaz in weapons.

Also, paragon levels, I may be being completely stupid here but if I get 3 per level won't I be able to have everything selected pretty quickly? Most of the options on there are pretty uninspiring too.
Same, but the purple one in weapons for more damage over time. I haven't the time to look at the paragon boards in details, so am just going to copy the boards from the end game builds on d4 builds.

As a consistent Necromancer player ever since D2 I will give one word of advice to all potential new Necromancers. Movement speed on boots > all other stats. Seriously, I know its tempting to go for more crit damage/chance whatever but its all about that movement speed. My other piece of advise regarding necro is just don't bother. :D

I think most builds use rubies in armour and skulls in jewellery. The gem for your weapon/off hand slots depends on where your build does the most damage.

Emeralds are best for ice shard sorcs for example, as they do most of their damage in bursts when the mobs are vulnerable. If you're using a DoT build, then as above, amethysts make more sense.

Diamonds in jewellery. Especially in later difficulties due to the fact that the your resistances are lowered by a percentage every time you go up a difficulty.

I've looked through a few end game builds and most still favour skulls over diamonds. Which one wins out likely depends on the specific stats the player has on their current gear.

For example on tornado druid - Put ‍Royal Skulls in Jewelry as they usually win out over Diamonds as they also apply to your Physical Damage Reduction and scale the ‍Aspect of Disobedience.

You are quite right and on further digging I found comments that back your assessment.

I'm clearly getting old and stuck in my ways. ;)

Only ever played d3 as a necro and just started out. Gotta say I'm enjoying it so far! Just got my golem

so mobs and dungeons scale with your level but not loot? The den mother, that pita wolf in an early dungeon, I went in at lvl10 and got my bum handed to me on a plate several times so went away levelled up to 20 and went back. Killed it this time but it just dropped lvl10 blue boots! very encouraging.

nah that's just the level to equip restriction, the Item Power is how strong the item is or what most games have as an ilvl

Lots of good changes coming to the game before season 1 and some great changes for season 1 itself. According to Rod most players haven't finished the campaign yet, so while people often complain about the minority that are complaining, rest assured those people are responsible for the QoL you will have in S1 :)

Recap
  • Nightmare dungeon experience buff
  • Direct teleportation for nightmare dungeons when you use a sigil
  • Necro Blighted corpse explosion visual effect fix for necro
  • Fog of war clear will carry over to season one and all alts
  • Altars will not have to be rediscovered on alts or for season
  • Renown from map clear and altars will carry over to seasons
  • Cap for veiled crystals and other materials increased
  • Removal of level requirement to open world boss caches
  • Druid loot table fixed, barbarian uniques removed from druid drops
  • Client patch for some specific optimization issues for PC
  • Gems are being moved to the materials tab so no longer take up stash space

Can you opt out of the season stuff or are you forced into it? If and when my progress gets wiped that will probably be it for me.

yeah that was a really good stream, pretty open and some funny blunders. Sounds like they have listened to a lot of the feedback and are responding, it's just a case now of how much time to fix stuff i.e. S1 is so close

Seasons are totally optional. Your characters on the "main" realm will be left untouched so you can just continue there, they won't be reset.

Delusions of grandeur?

Pretty sure most of those changes would be happening anyway regardless of whether PoE Andy did 14 hours a day since release.
