** Diablo 4 Thread **

Absolutely agree there is room in a gamer's library for both but I don't think I'd bother with PoE again as I just didn't find it interesting enough to continue with. I will probably try PoE 2 when it comes out in the hopes it's better but at the end of the day it's not something that bothers me that much. I've got about 1000 games in my Steam/Epic/Ubisoft/insert other platform libraries that I probably still haven't even played, and when Diablo IV drops in price I'll get that too but I'm in no hurry to line Blizzard's pockets at the current price.

Will a Ryzen 5600G with built in GPU be good enough for this game at 1080P?

1080p probably not and if you can it will be low gfx settings and probably 30fps at best.

At 720p it would be playable with better gfx settings but still not great.

This is based on the 5600G being about 20%+ faster than a gtx 1030 which is for lack of a better word garbage.

poe isnt an arpg its a crafting simulator.
poe2 will be more of that.

Its why diablo4 will grow and attract a huge gaming community.

I think it's more like Diablo is baby's first ARPG, and POE has waaaay too much depth for some. This is evidenced by Diablo having a huge intial playerbase, which falls of to nothing very quickly whereas POE maintains a strong playerbase continuously.

I'm much the same. I've tried playing it two or three times but am usually bored silly within a couple of days and start playing something else instead. It's just never grabbed me enough to want to carry on playing it, and as I'm getting older now I just don't have the patience for things like that.

You basically haven't even played the game if you're a noob and you quit after 2 days, that's not even enough to get to end game for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Took me 3 months of playing before everything just clicked and fell into place, and yet 12 years later there are still things I need to figure out and learn.

and this

Looks nice, but will be shallow and short-lived. I'm looking forward to playing it, but no real comprtion in terms, of depth, longevity, or content. Let's be real here. D4 will be nice palate cleanser I won't have to think about too much to enjoy. Oh yeah and we haven't seen that good old Blizzard monetisation yet...

POE, you can't play seriously without tabs, that's a fact, but beyond say £50 - no need to spend anything else over 12 years, if you want some silly MTX that's up to you.

Well, if we are being real here, everything you said is subjective rather than absolute. I , for instance, got way more longevity out of playing Diablo than I did playing PoE (over 1000 hours in Diablo compared to just over 500 in PoE). Equally you cant really berate Blizzard monetisation and then in the next sentence state that you cant play PoE properly without spending MTX for tabs as thats contradictory. As I've said before though in the thread, there really is no need for any debate on Diablo V PoE, its just another of those pointless Playstation v Xbox, Spectrum v Commodore, Marvel v DC types of arguments that crop up all over the place, they are different games aimed at different audiences, to compare the two is like trying to have a Battlefield v Escape to Tarkov or World of Warcraft v Ultima Online debate. Games which are of a similar genre but done with different mechanics and different target userbase. Theres not really any reason why any player couldnt own both titles and get enjoyment out of both titles

The fact they have yet to mention anything about D4s end game leads me to believe it will be one of 2 things.

Absolutely epic and the best thing since sliced bread.

Or

It won't and we will just get greater rifts 2.0 with maybe harder version of the campaign bosses at most.

But you can guarantee the campaign will be good with some epic cinematic content. Will people still be playing D4 in 20 years time like D2, probably not.

They'll probably be playing Diablo 6 by then :D

Got me thinking though, 20 years is an insanely long time in gaming, I wonder what the oldest game is that I still regularly play, I dont really tend to play 20 year old titles as I often find that I remember them with rose tinted glasses and when I go back and play them again decades later they arent as good as I remember. Funnily enough I've been watching some youtubes lately of old Speccy games that I played 40 years ago and how I would talk now about them being awesome games, then I watched the youtube of them and think, god, that was actually pretty dump compared to modern games but I remember them being amazing :D

Let me have a check here and see what the oldest game is that I am still currently actively regularly playing....one mo, bear with me

EDIT: ok, so my current play list consists of

Riftbreaker
Hogwarts Legacy
Atomic Heart
Company of Heroes 3
Tiny Tinas Wonderlands
Returnal
Snowrunner

Which I guess means that my current actively played oldest game is Snowrunner (2021)

As much as I liked d2 and was hooked on it back in the day, I'm not playing it 20 years later either. Didn't even play the remastered one.
I loved D2 originally, played it nonstop for ages, loved it. One of my all time favourite games, I did buy the remastered one and for a little while, a few weeks, it was good for the memberberries feeling but whereas I played D2 originally for years, the remaster I only ended up playing for a few weeks. It was good for the nostalgia hit but game mechanics have moved on since those days and there are better newer titles around to play. plus I've already seen it all and done it all in D2, theres only so many times you can run the same things over and over before you start thinking what am I doing with my time? must be a better way to spend it than doing this over and over and move on to something else.

And given the fact it didn't interest me enough to carry on trying to get into it it's not likely I'm going to bother now :).

I actually still prefer D1 (thought I did buy D2 & the remastered version) and did fire it up a couple of years ago to play. It's a shame there's no remastered version of that.

Yep I definitely prefer seeking out new rather than playing the same old. I will be very likely diving into D4 in any case!
Likewise, got D4 preordered, tbf preordered it the moment it was announced. I basically operate on a £ per hour basis for game value and it was a very safe bet that even at £60 , I would get 60 hours out of D4 so it was clear it would hit the £ per hour requirement

Aye, same; pre-ordered it immediately as I know I'll very likely get thousands of hours of game play out of it so the base price is absolutely inconsequential to how much fun I'll likely get out of it.

The £ per hour basis is also why I don't really mind the paid battle pass as long as the price is reasonable, since as long as the money funds further development I'll still be getting value for money consistently. Same deal for Path of Exile where I usually pick up a season pack once every other league to support further development. I still see people moaning about battle passes for D4 on places like reddit where they expect completely free content updates for the next decade.
